Braille B2015 battery ok for my car?

Been thinking of ditching the Optima Yellowtop battery. It's heavy and fairly crap IMHO. I was thinking of going for a Braille B2015, but was wondering if this would be sufficient for my motor; forged 383, D1SC, ECS fuel system, heads/blower cam... Anyone have any thoughts? I see Braille also makes a heavier duty version (although it weights more) called the B3121. Would this be better?

550 CCA for the B3121 and 425 CCA for the B2015. However, both of these are well below the yellow tops 750 CCA.

Chris, I have the B2015. No issues so far. However, my car is stock.

The B3121 is only 6 lbs heavier than the B2015. You will not notice the difference in weight, in my opinion, but you will at least have some peace of mind regarding the greater CCAs.

But unless I am mistaken, CCAs only apply to temperatures at 0*F. Does it even get that cold in your area. And would you be driving in those temps anyway?

I'm far from a battery expert, but it seems to me that CAs are more significant in this case. How do the Optima's CAs compare?

I live in Maryland, and it doesn't get that cold to be honest. The values for CA are as follows;

Braille B3121 - 742
Braille B2015 - 574
Optima Yellow Top - 870

I've hard the 11.5lb for over 2 1/2 years now, works great! The 15lb will work fine.

Re: Braille B2015 battery ok for my car?

Well I am not a Wal-Mart fan, but I have four of their EVERSTART MAXX batteries in use:
One in my 1967 El Camino with a 572 crate engine, A/C and after market stereo for two years. The Battery is located in the rear behind the cab and to date I have not had any problems. The car is not driven during the winter but I do have a battery tender on it.
I have another one of these in my 63 Corvette, not driven in the winter.
One in an LS5 Chevelle, this one is four years old.
And one in a 68 427 Corvette. No problems with any of them.
The specs are:
1000 cranking amps to 32deg f.
875 cold cranking amps
3 - year full replacement
Cost $60.00. ea.
