C5 prices going up !!

Well, I was searching the internet and checking in with local dealers today...

Our C5's in CANADA are up.
It actually, seems that the the dealers are getting requests for the old look, rather than the new! HA!
Knew it would happen. (but, so early!!)

Here's a sampling...
click on this for some pricing !!!

This was all prompted when my dealer asked if I was interested to sell my BLACK Z06, 2003!!

ANSWER: NO WAY!! -Bill.

Wow, that's a surprise. Prices ALWAYS drop on Vette's in the winter, and Z's here are still wholesaling between $28k-$33k.

Feel the same, clean, low mileage Z's will hold where they are at for now.

yeah... not totally surprising to me. a week ago i was getting my car washed locally, and there was a black C6 getting dried at the same time. and i was looking at it, thinking, you know, it actually doesn't look as good as the old one--not as serious i guess. the front looks disproportionally short and small. i dunno. it's just looked funny to me.

then i started thinking, it would be so nice if we could get a car with the new c6 z06's performance, but with the same body we have now.

well, i know i subconsciously have incentive to not like the new model... but i think honestly, with as little biasing as possible, it really doesn't look as good.

It is really difficult to compare the Z06 to the C6. When I first did a side by side comparo I was so amazingly dissapointed in the C6. Then I had an interesting thought about it... What if i compared a C5 coupe to the Z06.

Guess what... I felt the same. The coupe while a great car did not have the agressive appearance of the Z06. The hardtop looks a lot more sleek than it's couterpart.

It's just my .02, but I think when you do the comparison you have to compare the same things. They may both be apples, but ones a granny smith and the other is a red delicious.

Not so sure on used but as for new Z16's there are 4 left in Ontario as of to day, and are going for 65,000. In Aug when I bought my Z06 for 66.5 the Z16's where 72.

I do note that many used Z06's are listed at more than what I paid new.

With the dollar exchange and our 15% sales taxes you can do better in the US. A new C6 in On. selling for 72.5 cdn plus tax is 83.4 k. To day in the US the 72.5 cdn is 58 K. Add the state tax and you will find you should shop in the south.

A blind man can feel the difference between a C5 Z06 and a C6 Z06, but your grand ma couldn't tell the difference between a C6 coupe and a C6 Z06. I like my C5 "notch back" Z06.

You can! Save up a little and get an LPE TT for your C5 Z06. It passes emissions, runs on 93 octane, drives like a bone stock car til you stand on it, and still gets 28mpg on the highway. It will certainly be faster in a straight line than the C6 Z06, too.

If you want to spice up the interior, go to Vette Essentials for some goodies there.
