If you're replacing pads, replace them with Ceramics rather than the stock organic pads. They wear longer and you will virtually eliminate brake dust.
True, the Ceramics don't bite quite as hard during initial Brake application, but the difference is inconsequential and you'll quickly adjust and the difference will become unnoticeable.

There is not really anything better or cheaper. There are brake products that provide different braking feel, look cooler, or withstand high temps generated on the track. Nothing is cheaper than the stock stuff purchased through a decent source. The Z06 pads are good, the GM or other ceramic pads will have less dust.
I track my car as well as commute with it. I have Stoptech brakes and use race pads for the track. For the street I use ceramics. Not to say that I have ever exceeded the speed limit, but during many times driving in the hills I have never had a problem with the stock brakes working well.
For street driving just stay stock. That will be the cheapest and best for your use.
Ive used Hawk Ceramics for the past few years. Very low dust during street driving and actually have decent bite on the Autox course. They will dust up the wheels/car quite a bit on the track though....
