...I want to pose this question to the very learned audience here.
Every now and again, folks around the Net and in "real life" make reference to "the C5R homologation cars" that were sold to customers - probably not to race.
All the reading and chatting I have done, has lead me to believe there were no such cars. There was a silver C5R prototype road car that showed up in pictures, but that's it -right?
Did GM or Pratt and Miller ever make any C5R's that were not raced but have become "super rare" C5's?
It's the SuperVette. It's somewhere deep in my gallery.

At a quoted price of $350,000, not including spares, for a "customer" C5R, I doubt anyone bought one and "streeted" it. At that price, I doubt anyone bought one, period...
Actually, as far as I know there is another C5-R being raced by a European team (or at least they raced one.)
The price of a 'street' C5-R is around 350k dollars. Regulations in Lemans forced the GM racing team to make one available for purchase. I am not sure if it is 10 or 50 the number they needed to satisfy the regulations.
Wasn't there a story in either Corvette Fever or Vette magazine that stated that one of the C5-R's was sold to somebody? I just don't remember who they sold the car too.
You can buy a C5-R racecar if you have the $$$. It is not a street car and they never made a street C5-R. No such animal. The FIA homologation rules are satisfied by the production C5.
C5R chassis #007 was/is the only C5-R to be raced by a team other than the factory. It's owned by Patrick Selleslagh of the Belcar team in Belgium.
Don't forget the C5 race car kits they sold back in '99 or so. Remember, they sold a rolling chassis that I think came with unattached, unfinished FRC body panels? They only made 50 or 100 or so of those kits. You had to have some sort of racing license or credentials to purchase the kits.

I believe it is Gary Pratts from P&M? Dunno though. There is an article in C&D from a while back. I'm going to go snoop around my bedroom and look for it (my floor is carpet covered in weights and car mags).
That isn't Gary Pratts car. The C5-R test mule doesn't have the roof thingy, has C5R headlights (not those shown), and has a differen't hood. That one might be a different customer car. The picture in C&D is stunning.
C&D June 2003:
The all-conquering factory C5-R's get most of the attention at the shop in New Hudson, but the customer cars are available at $440,000 per. The C5-R test mule began life as a street car. Now it's on display in Pratt and Miller's lobby.
Im not sure if its the same car but there was an article on this car way back in 2001 in Motortrend, they called it "supervette". Theyt were talking about a high dollar street supervette. The pic shows a white vette with the same moldings, spoilers, hood, and lines of the silver vette posted by ZO6Wish (it looks exactly the same) except that the vette in this article didnt have that scoop on the roof and it has non pop-up headlights.
