Cassette Tape Holder; No Cassette Player?? "2001 Automobile Magazine Car Of The Year"

Why did the GM brain-trust in the all their glory install the three little cassette tape slots in the center console of the "Best Vette Yet" when the car has a CD player and no cassette player???

Was this small oversight addressed in the research by Automobile Magazine upon conferring to it the "2001 Automobile Magazine Car Of The Year" award?

Your take?

I don't think those are cassette tape holders. I could be wrong, but I don't think you could fit a cassette tape in them and still close the lid. I think they are just seperators, for what I don't know.

The cassette/radio was an available option in '01.

I know it was an option but look at the production numbers...you would think there would be a line modification at some point??

Presumably, those are Z numbers. There were 6844 cassettes sold that model year. I can think of a number of reasons they would have done it that way.

fair enough but don't you think they (GM) might try to "make it right" for those z owners with an obsolete center counsel?

I would comment on this subject but apparently you deemed that I was unworthy of owning my Z because I have "grannie guards" on it.
