Frirst off, a big thanks to Dave Peacy for telling us to call the Chevy customer service (800 # in back of the service manual) if we are having problems getting our vettes serviced under warranty. Since I wasn't comfortable that my local Chevy dealer had anyone experienced in cracking open my LS6, I was trying on my own to get another dealer with a great tech to do it. They refused saying any mod (headers) to the engine makes the engine warranty invalid. I called Chevy cust service and they bent over backwards to find a dealer that would work with me.... Thanks Cloverleaf Chevy!!!
Unlike working with most dealers, Chevy cust service was a very pleasant experience. Very sympathetic to my problem. They talked to everyone involved and got back to me within minutes of when I first called them. That is the make the customer happy experience a customer should get when buying their product. Why dealers just want to sell you the car and forget you, I don't have a clue!

Great for you Sconi. I love it when a plan comes together.

I wanted to do the oil comsumption test.... Which I should have no problem with since it's around 750 miles/qt. It wan't too bad (1000..1200 mi/qt) the first year but got worse last year.
Case... It was a tough decision to have the engine cracked open or live with the oil consumption. But since it got worse I had to do it.
Another member just got a new engine due to oil comsumption. I'm just glad to see that you didn't have to go through the six or eight months to get a dealer to address your issues.
Thanks for helping me restore my faith in GM. With all the negative posts about customer service, it sure is nice to hear someone who had a postive experience. Now we just need more of them!

I'm getting some backlash from my dealer also about the oil consumption on my 01. I rolled in there with the cam shaking the car and the exhaust waking all the techs up and they called for the service manager first thing. I told him exactly what had been done to the car and what did a cam and headers have to do with an engine eating a quart of oil every 800 miles?? He agreed to go with the valley pan then do a 500 mile test to see if it helped! We shall see how it goes if the pan doesn't fix the problem!!
That is where I am, did a 3000 mile oil consumption test, this is post ring job, and the car was using 1 qt every 1100 miles like clockwork. They are doing the Valley seal fix now, and I am going to check it when I get back from my trip to ensure there is no leakage.
My dealer service manager is cool. He also owns a Corvette. He's got a very simple approach to warranty work... they'll do the job no matter what. If you didn't break it, then you won't pay for it.
I'm going in for the Vally and O-Ring, myself, hopefully next week (want to do it *before* the Vortech is installed, hopefully the week after). No argument at all from the guy. When I spoke to him today, he said they were doing two others that had been rejected by other dealers. One, because it had Headers and a Hurst shifter if you can believe it! The dealer's excuse was "the mods prove he drives it hard". My guy's attitude was "even if true, so what? It's a *performance* car, it supposed to be driven hard!".
Nice to know there are still at least a few enlightened managers still out there.
