Chevy service sucks!!!!!

Just got my car back from its re-ring after burning a quart of oil every 200 miles Its been about a week and everything seems fine until today.

Driving down the road, car starts making a horrendous knocking sound. As the rpm increases so does the knock. Well thats my rant for the day as i sit waiting for the tow truck for my 50,000 dollar car with 18000 miles on it.

Thats what im trying for. Ive had the car for 5,000 miles and the car has had the engine torn apart twice. I bought the car used from a chevy dealer with 12000 miles.

When i was waiting for my ride home last night after dropping my car off i started looking at a used 2002 m3 the chevy dealer had on the lot. The salesman walked up to me and said " your probably getting tired of all the problems with your vette, you wouldnt have to worry about that with the M3"

What the fu** has become of chevrolet??????????????????

I think I'd rather live with the oil consumption issue than that. Never taking it back to Chevy as long as I can either A. Deal with the problem...or B. Fix it myself.

They just called, its seems some of the rocker arms were not tightened down properly and they came loose

If this is chevy's flagship vehicle, id hate to own one of the cheaper models

Anyone can screw up. This whole thing with the oil cons. is getting far fetched. Mine including at least 4 other 01s have no issues. Even if the car used a quart every 500 miles is nothing. Race motors are all built with loose tollerances along with rings that barely touch the cylinder walls,It means more power. Whenever a car is taken somewhere for anything,it will never be treated like you treat your own car. Good luck

While the Z06 may act like a race car it isn't. I don't drive a race car every day to work. Even if my car were making double the amount of HP I wouldn't accept a quart every 500 miles.

By the way, can you explain how GM managed to get even more HP with less oil usage in 2002? I can. It's called engineering that should have been implemented in the first place. It's funny how Dave Hill (Corvette Chief Engineer) and John Juriga (Assistant Chief Engineer for Gen III cars) admitted oil consumption issues for the 2001 Z at a press release for the 2002 Z06.......

You're 500 mile per quart statement is

I think you are jumping the gun and being unfair. My first Vette (new 96 LT4) the transmission locked up, had to have it towed to the dealer, and the transmission completely replaced. They did it, I waited a few weeks, and everything was great afterward.

My 01 will burn oil like the rest of you 01'ers. I bought my car at a good dealer, I know they will fix this one to when the time is right, and if I am without it for a week, or they don't properly tighten rockers, and need it another couple days, so what. Small price to pay for the fun I have.

To all of you planning on buying a Vette, or any new car in the future, check first to see if you are working with a reputable dealer FIRST. Every car has problems, shame on you if you don't research who you are buying from first.

Sorry to hear about your problems. It is for the same reasons echoed in this thread that I am still reluctant to take mine in for -very minor- warranty work (bad pass. headlight motor and getting worse...). I really need to start taking it around Houston to find a decent service dept. before more serious probs set in (e.g. leaky diff). Most Chevy service depts will F'up the car in some form or fashion during a routine oil change...

I just hate the thought of bouncing from device dept to service dept using my car as a guinea pig to find one who is competent.

Good luck and I hope they resolve your problems to your satsfaction.
