Crapola!! Got a rock chip in the windshield

Just found it while washing the car. It's up high in the center. Not huge, about as big as a pinky finger nail clipping.

Also, thought I had the car all nice and clean, and then find all these little boogers on the front. I guess you learn to go over the front a couple times to remove those 100 mph bug stains. LOL

Just venting my frustrations. Thanks for listening.

Scott

The only way to keep from getting a rock chip in the windshield is to leave it in the garage...

A small price to pay for so much FUN....

If you get it replaced make sure it is Z06 specific. OUr shields are thinner and lighter.

404AT6K, The same thing happend to me. Got a small crack in windshield a few weeks ago. I had it repaired, but you can still see it. They said the crack would not spread. I still may go for the new windshield. The windshield in the Z06 is thinner, lighter, etc. If you change it out, make sure you get the Z06 glass. I know this sounds like no big deal untill it happens to you. Steve

IMHO,

Maintain the original windshield integrity unless the ding is in your line of site. I have one on the passenger side.

Most states and insurance cover your windshield replacement for no charge and no deductible. I would check into that as opposed to having it "patched" or ignored.

Don - why would you not patch it? I've had great luck on other vehicles with a local outfit that repairs chips so you can't even tell they were there unless you knew it and were really looking (and I mean really looking).

I too have a very small nick right in the middle of the windshield and plan to have it fixed - great prevention for small cracks too so they don't spread.

Is there a reason you don't care for the nick fixes?

Yeah, it's not as good as a new windshield. Why patch when you can get a new one? A patch damaged windshield is never as good a new unpatched one.

Take it from me, get it filled, usually its free with standard insurance. Get it filled before the windshield cracks.

I had a hardtop and cracked the window, it was a nightmare. I interviewed the glass shop manager, even and still got a crappy seal job......

The Z06 got a chip in the first few months (I drive it everyday) and had it filled and you can hardly see it. I am scared to death to have to replace another windshield......

Email me or PM me if you have questions, I have been through it all with windows and MANY other repairs on the hardtop.....

I do however have nothing but good things to say about my Z06

Get if fixed with Novus or similar before having a new windshield installed. You will not even notice it if you get it done soon. I have had it done many times on my everyday driver and would do the same before having the entire windsheild removed. Too much risk for other damage, never seals the same, etc. At least give it a try for $50 of so...........
