drag strip times

Just got back from the track ran a 12.8@111.00 with a 2.01 60' time, with a bone stock 02z. was wondering what others were getting at the track with a fairly stock set up? I also was getting alot of wheel hop , track was real sticky , even 2nd gear was getting alot of hop, are you guys experencing this? think I could have gotten my times down if I could have got my 60' times down some.

What track?

I have an '01 Z with intake, headers and exhaust, so probably not much more than you. I ran a 12.9 at 113.56 a few weeks ago in Bowling Green. Didn't have any problems with wheel hop. Best 60' was 2.23. But I'm a noob. It was my first time. It was my 6th and final run.

That's abt normal for this time of year. My car turned a 12.7 @ 113.5 when it was stock @ Orlando SLIPworld, but the temps were in the 70s.
The car turns low 12s @ 119 there now w/ the addition of headers,x-pipe, hi-flow cats, CAI & tuning.

Keep in mind, we'd be running much better @ a northern track, like ATCO or similar.

Get your rear tire pressure down to 22psi or so, that should help with the wheel hop issue. HTH

Ditto - I usually run 24 psi in mine and it works great. See sig.

It seems to me that, roughly, every tenth gain in your 60 ft time is worth about two tenths gain in the quarter. Is this about right?

I've heard the same (sure I read it in GMHTP mag or something like that)... maybe I should analyze some of my timeslips and see if it holds true.

If it were true, my 1.82 time should have resulted in a 1/4 mile time 4/10ths quicker than a 2.02, so if I ran a 2.02 instead that run should have been a 12.26 instead of an 11.86. I dunno, it doesn't sound right to me, I think I'd be running slower than 12.26 with a 2.02 60' time. In fact, I'm sure I can back that up with many low 12 second timeslips that have better 60' times... my best 60' time was a 1.80 and I went 12-flat (bad air I guess).

Maybe that rule holds true for a slower car, maybe something in the 14-15 second range, it doesn't seem to make sense for a car running low 12s to high 11s. Probably a "rule of thumb" from the days of old...

thats about right for stock, when I was vararam only I ran a 12.6@113.5 mph (2.05 60 ft)

The other stock 02+ Z's there were all trapping at 110-111 mph and running high 12's.

Last time out I ran a 12.2@117 mph (2.15 60') with 20 less rwhp and 85 more lbs than I am at now. I wanna get some new times. I think Ill get a 12 flat at 119 mph now with a similar 60'.

12.59 @ 115 MPH 2.11 60' Stock at OSW on street tires.

I haven't made any runs since the mods were done.

I'm shooting for mid 11's in good weather and a 1.6X 60' with a stock motor hopefully in Oct/Nov when the weather cools off a little.
