Driver school Canceled?? Step inside A Driver's Ed you won't want to miss!
I have the solution for those of you who had a driving school cancelled or missed our Texas World Speedway event and seminar. And, it could be better than you originally had.
I will be holding a driving seminar at Elkhart Lake Wisconsin's Road America Racetrack during the October 18th/19th track event.
The event cost, Including the seminar is only $375. for the two day event. that is $320 for the track time and $55 for the seminar. there will only be 50 slots for the Seminar and I am not sure how many are left. The info will be up on the Speedseekers web site about the seminar by Wed, but you can sign up immediately for only $375.
There will be 2 days of track time and 2 full hours of " track talk and instruction" from Me, Lou Gigliotti 3 Time Speedvision World Challenge champion.
Don't miss this opportunity to run your Corvette on the same track as Mario, AJ, Unsers, Zanardi, Montoya and many other great racers. This track was meant for your Z06.
I will have a couple of race cars there also, so I will see you there.
I want to do this, but I have NO track experience, minus from the autocross im doing this weekend. Was planning on waiting for this until next year after i have all next year to autocross before hand - what do you guys think?

Do it! They have plenty of room in the novice and mild groups. This is my first time to Road America, even though we have "some" experience. I think it will be a great time! If the weather holds out, it should be a lot prettier than in the spring too. It will be near peak for the fall colors around the 18th and 19th.
I put my son and I in the moderate group, althougth we probably won't object to being put in the mild group if they fill the moderate group and have to move people. After watching the Lambinator in this past spring's event, I will NOT be in the assertive group.
Lou. Can you give us more information about what you're going to talk about with track talk and discusion? Without giving everything away of course. Also, what part of the weekend is this going to take place?
Im definitely getting more intersted...how does the class system work - ie: since i would most likely be novice - are there speed limits etc for the newbs, does an instructor ride with, how does this work?

I don't know the particulars of the classroom yet. Before Lou signed on, there were just drivers meetings planned. Probably for track rules and a little instruction. No instructors or classes. There will be more experienced people there that would probably go for a ride with you and show you the line. I'm sure that there isn't a speed limit. It is speedseekers after all.
I'd feel pretty safe in the novice group. I don't have a lot of experience and I'm signed up for the moderate group. I would've put myself in the mild group if it wasn't for knowing the track so well from watching races for years and since we have a Z06. If I were in a Miata, I'd put myself in the mild group for sure. The car is kind of the equalizer.
If you want more information, I'd suggest contacting speedseekers. They have contact information on their site. I'm a newbie to this event, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Just trying to be helpful is all.
I try to transfer all my road racing knowlege from 30 years of racing to those who attend. And I try to do it in 1 hour.
In reality, I try to give everyone a heads up on the track that we are at, and try to show how a racer would approach this track if it were the first time on it.
Hopefully you will come away from this seminar with enough info to "Read" any track and at least know why you would approach a series of corners one way rather than just going by the seat of your pants. I will tell you "Why" a corner is an early or late apex, and when to give up a corner to help the exit from the next corner. We will go over the 3 types of corners, and the fact that there is only ONE correct line around any race track, and we will find out why.
If the organizers all me to, I plan to ride in or drive other entrants cars to give them a feel for the way I drive the cars. I will also try to give rides in my street/track FRC that we take to the track with us.
Now I know that out of 100 entrants, there will be at least 85 who know everything there is to know about road racing, and I will not be able to help them. I personally am not one of the 15 who know it all. I have been racing hard for a long time, and won plenty of races, so I will try to give out as much info as I can to any who want it.
Who knows, there could be the "Next Mario Andretti" in the group just waiting to be let loose.
Edit: I just got word back from speedseekers that you're (Lou) is going to have the session during the morning meeting and then recap during the lunch break.
