Engine Removal out the top.

Hey Guys, I am asking anyone with experience with removing a vette motor out of the top of the car (C5) to fill me in on your experience and what to expect when doing this kind of "surgery" lol...I realize that this is not the best way to do it, but I do not have the equipment to pull the whole body off of the drivetrain...As you may know I am removing the LS6 out of my Z06 and I am installing a 418ci LS3 into my car....I am really looking for some pointers and tips...I am documenting everything I do on my facebook (feel free to look me up...Nathan Knorr) please post if you have been in this situation before...any help I could get would be greatly appreciated..thanks for your time

Re: Engine Removal out the top.

PM Jim Lembo here he has alot of experience with this topic. He will explain but the removal from the bottom is the way to go. It can be done from the top but it is the harder way to go.

Re: Engine Removal out the top.

I took mine out of the top too. was really easy, alot easier than initially thought. I used a bungie cord thru the steering wheel hooked to the seat trackes to keep the wheel still while the steering shaft is loose.

Re: Engine Removal out the top.

I and my cousin , we have already took it out, but it took a really short time cause if i was alone it could take me 4 hours, so together we took it out in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Looks like a record!

I took mine out the top but if I have to do it again, it's coming out the bottom.
