The Fast and the Furious in San Jose, CA

I loaned my Z to a friend last night b/c I had to pickup a UHAUL to haul some stuff and he was going to drive the Z back to his home and park her in the garage for me. Well, this morning he was taking his nephew to school and then afterwards dropping him off, he went WOT in 2nd and 3rd to test out my T1 w/ recent changes on the AFRC. (BTW, he was the same friend that drove back to Cali w/ me from Maxie Price Chevy on the XC roadtrip). He's familiar with the performance of the car at bone stock and I wanted to get his feedback w/ the recent mods. Moving on, after miles and miles of driving thru the San Jose/Almaden neighborhood, a Dodge Durango had been following him for miles and pulled him over and he flashed his Sheriff's badge. My friend explained to him the situation and to have the officer call me. So, here I am at home and get this phone call about 8:30am and he asks me if I owned a black Z and describe the vehicle to him and asked about my friend and if I did in fact loan the car to him. He wanted to clearly state that, if my friend did not have a valid DL, that my Z would be in Car Jail! Oh, I also didn't have my plates on the car, and the officer asked my friend what's the deal? He stated my friend was going 70mph in a 40mph zone, where in fact my friend went probably 110+ mph in competitive mode on some streets. He's crazy! Well, later after arriving to work, my friend tells me that this officer struck a deal with him and that he would be let off clean and asked him if knew of any racers in the county (Santa Clara), b/c the officer is part of the Auto Theft task force and basically was trying to recruit my friend to become undercover nark? The officer also called SJ police for backup at the time of the incident and the 2nd officer asked my friend about the Z and if it was a special edition and all the specs on the engine, etc. He also wanted to see under the hood of the Z and was definitely impressed with the Halltech T1.

My friend has to call the officer tomorrow and get more details on what the plan is. Perhaps, he's going to go undercover and visit the street races and participate? After going thru all this, my friend did not get a ticket. Can you believe that?

Working undercover for the cops as a civilian is nuts. I wouldn't want to be a rat for them. But, I understand, the circumstances warranted your friend to go with the flow. Hopefully, in my opinion, he wouldn't have to do that shit.

Oh, and I had my own little experience here in San Francisco last night. Made a right turn at red where a posted sign prohibited this. It was 1am in the morning, I wasn't driving eradicly, and I had a good excuse as I don't live in Frisco and always get lost in those one way street. Still got the ticket. I can't believe the cop wouldn't give me a break at 1 am in the morning!!!

I had a small town prick give me a ticket at 2 AM for not completely stopping at a stop sign. Now, cars don't even frequent this road that much at noon time much less 2 AM.
