Faux Z16 (pics include... must read story to see pics though)
I took another visit to Buds this afternoon and visited my showroom (yes, its my showroom, they just don't let me drive my cars). In the entrance they had an 2003 EB/Blk Z06 with the Z16 decals. At first I was thinking, "Wow, I really like Buds, but posers are not cool at all." While I was checking it out one of the salesmen came up and said, "You're Otte, right?" I was astonished. About a month ago I asked for them to call me when the Z16 comes in so I could take some pictures, and not only was my name and phone number still on his to do list, he related my name to my face. I asked him why they had a Z16 clone and he said that after waiting for months on end they just decided to make their own (So, Buds, I forgive you). They said they made it mainly for the purpose of advertisement, but to be quite honest, it looked really good. I will have some pictures from my visit hopefully tomorrow (which is today unless you are on west coast) and I will post them.
And... is anyone here going to be at Buds this spring for their car show?

sil350 GM has made the best Z06 yet, I totally agree.
However ladies and gentelmen, I take issue with dealerships (and people) creating clones of Z06's and Z-16's and any other asset that is non-original. It dilutes the "REAL" vehicles we drive. And later some ass-wipe will sell this poser to some unsuspecting nice person that will be devistated when his "Collector" car turns out to be a fraud.

I would agree with you if I hadn't talked to one of the persons in charge of turning this into a Z16. They clearyly have it marked Z16 Clone on their website, and they have '03 emblems. He basically said the only reason they did it was to draw attention to Buds through advertisements promoting the Z16. "Other dealers can't get the Z16s... hmm Buds can, they must be more important." That kinda thing. I always qustion the motives of dealers, but in this case I truely believe that Buds didn't do anything wrong. P.S. They are very very friendly to drooling 17 year olds.
Originally posted by BAD 06 It looks light because it is EB and not Lemans Blue. EB is still my favorite color but the Lemans Blue does look better with the Z16 treatment.

I am thinking the Z16 stripes and all would look much better on black but I cannot visualize it, need someone to PhotoChop something together. Regardless, I've never been too keen on posers but it's a free country. Rest assured the Z16 stripes will be widely available soon and on C5's of all colors, so get used to it.

Yea, the dealer is being honest, but maybe not the next person that unloads it on the less knowledgeable. That's where it gets ugly and like it or not the dealer is indirectly to blame. Just my .02
