Not your lugs; the ones between your legs. Sadly, my cousin Robert lost his battle with testicular cancer this morning after fighting hard for over 6 months. He was only 25. When the pain started he didn't go to the doctor becuse he was stubborn and thought it was from a work related injury. By the time the pain got so bad he went to the doctor the cancer had matasticized (sp?). The hospital didn't help much either, they cut his bowel in one surguey cuasing a severe bacterial infection, and when the went in to fix that they left a sponge in him =(. Not what you need when your struggling to live. So anyway, just check your boys out once a month for me and him.
Man...sorry to hear about your cousin. Your family will be in my prayers.

Cobra, I'm really sorry to hear your cousin died from one of the most curable forms of cancer there is. I was a long distance runner and in the spring of 1990 when I was 46 years old I noticed that when I ran my back was hurting me and my times per mile were slower even though I was losing about a pound a week. It got so bad that I went to my doctor who ended up sending me to a blood specialist. Out of embarassment I didn't tell my doctor that one of my testicles was growing like mad and starting to hurt me. The blood specialist who was also an Onocologist took one look and sent me to a Urologist. He took one look and removed my testicle two days later. I ended up having CAT scans, bone scans, bone marrow tests, lymphangieagrams, blood tests, etc. During all the tests they found out I was enemic, had a lung disease and Chrons. I had 28 radiation treatments and on 12/19/1990 which was my 47th birthday I had my last treatment. It has been 13 years now and no sign of cancer. If caught early it is very sensitive to radiation and can be cured so you guys should do what Cobra says and check your nuts and if you have any doubt go straight to a doctor and get checked out. My doctor said if mine didn't come back in two years it wouldn't. I recommend a physical every year which includes psa and a digital exam. I recommend a colonoscopy at least by 50 years old and then every 5 years. My family doctor is a female that my wife had in 5th grade and she gives a very good physical. My hero Lance Armstrong had the same thing but he seems to have more energy than me.

I know that's it's very curable and it's a real shame he was such a redneck/hick and didn't "need" doctors. He rather go run his dogs after dear than do anything else in the world. Unfortunately by the time he'd already gone to the doctor there were spots on his liver, lungs, and back. The radiation did help, and the surguries to remove some of the spots where good to. I really think it was the perforated bowl that killed him. I mean he was fighting for his life and the feces in his system caused a huge bacterial infection that he had to fight off. That made him very weak and they could never get it to go away (used every anti-boitic they had). Had he not been put under the added strain of bacterial infection things may have turned out a bit better.
Sorry to hear about your cousin. It is mans worst enemy. That and colon cancer.
Better to go through a little embarrassment to stay healthy. I did the bore scope up the pa-too a few years ago and they removed a polyp. A negative polyp, but just to know that you had a polyp will keep you on edge until the biopsy.
Yup, check em boys ! Or better yet have your significant other check them for you. I mean it's at least more fun that way.
I hit 50 next year and stuff like this scares me more than 30 years of being a cop and firefighter. Thanks for the reminder, although I never look forward to these tests.
So sorry to hear about your cousin.
Joe
Self examination of your testicles IS very important for men.
My 2 sons who are 16 and 20 have been made aware of this by our Family's Doctor and reinforced by myself...I'm a 11 year cancer survivor via Autologus Bone Marrow Transplantation at 35 years old. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma with Liver involment...there is no higher level of cancer than Stage 4. I was originally mis-diagnosed by another Doctor!
Another thing to have checked out is your prostrate. My dad had some prostrate cancer about a year ago. They treated it with the seeds and he just had a check-up. He is doing great!
