Fest: Road conditions/delays between Evansville and Bowling Green?
There's been some discussion of problems on old 66 using this route. If somebody at the Fest who came down that way could update the information with their experience, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
[Mods, I realize this is sort of non-Grandstand, but I figured any place else it might be missed. Move it if you feel otherwise.]
I saw a story on the ABC affilliate in Henderson Kentucky a couple of days ago concerning construction on the Audubon Parkway between Henderson and Owensboro. Seems it is going to be down to one lane each way. I do not know for how many miles the contsruction is taking place.
I just checked the KY transportaion Cabinet Website The Audubon between Henderson and Owenboro is down to one lane at the Green River bridge. It does not say what distance. The Natcher Parkway between Owensboro and Bowling Green is also down to one lane each way in spots as well. The website for road conditions is www.511.ky.gov. Sorry. but I do not know how to insert a link to that website!
Thanks, that was what I had heard, too. Hopefully, someone who's driven the route yesterday or today will see the thread and let us know whether the problems justify taking another route.
There are spots down to one lane and at times it is slow going. But people who are familiar with the area have said it is still faster than any alternate route.
Take Hwy 41 south down to the Western Ky Parkway, go east till you get back on the William Natcher all the way into Bowling-Green. This is a quicker router than Owenboro.
Thanks, John77, I was looking at that on the map as an option. I'm leaning toward going that way at this point, unless I hear about some good experiences going through Owensboro.
This route goes through my hometown of Madisonville. I know there a few spots on the WK Parkway that are under construction as well but nothing too bad. I will be going this way Saturday AM
