On my way home from Chicago today, after leaving the little town of Perkins in the UP of Michigan on highway 35 (check it out on the map), I cranked up the Z and had it up to 160 in 6th gear, which I new wouldn't pull to its potential. I backed off a bit and shifted down into 5th which pulled 175 mph at very close to redline. A few minutes later, I slowed down to 140 mph, passing through the 2 bar town (no houses, just two bars with no cars there) of Rock, cranked it back up to redline once again for another few minutes until I approached the curves just after the town (no houses or anything) of McFarland (down to 100 mph) back up to the redline again for another few minutes until the big sweeping curve (down to 100 mph) before the redline approach to Little Lake, and back to 35 mph. I didn't pass a sole on this stretch, which is about 25 miles long. I did meet two motorcycles coming the other way ( I wonder what it felt like when I went by). The car was more stable than I remembered, but it makes a hell of a racket. I probably had it at 175 for 20 miles.
This is a straight, flat, and excellent stretch of highway (no bumps, expansion joints, etc.) seldom used by anyone except for people going to work, and from work in the morning/evening. there is a parallel highway which tourists, and most Yoopers use. I have never seen a cop on the road.
After I passed through Little Lake (now going the speed limit), we saw a cop (State Trooper) with someone pulled over on the other side of the road. He pulls out from behind the car and does a huey in front of me, and keeps hitting the "instant on" as cars pass by. Suddenly he pulls off the road does another huey and is after another speeder. My V1 one starts going off again another mile up the road - another State Trooper. All I can think is that I am glad they don't go beyond Little Lake on 553. By the way, at 175 the V1 is useless as a deterrent with instant on.
believable story my friend but mostly amongst us right?I guess now you proved it to yourself! why were you speeding ?
Oh ,I know you had s#%t to do right! hope the feeling lasts. If you wanted a Cadillac you would have gotten one right!

It is the perfect place to speed. I wasn't in a hurry, I just wanted to do a longer run at speed. I used to test the motorcycles that I raced in that area. I am used to riding bikes fast, so speed is no problem for me. The car is whole different deal, however, (much heavier and two tracks). I was surprised at how stable it was, but it still feels uncomfortable at that speed. I prefer to ride my bikes very fast. It will probably be the last time that I have the car in that territory.
Did you check your oil after the run? It should have used a drop or two.
Hmm.. - tonight when I picked up my daughter, I got the "low oil warning" message on the DIC. I have only had to add one quart at 7,000 miles plus two oil changes) and the car is close to 16,000 now. Maybe I will use this as an opportunity to change the .oil since it is down to 32%.
I was cruising at 120mph for a few miles, this was a few months ago, and they pulled me over about 8 miles later. I got off with a fix-it ticket for no front/rear license plate.
