Hit and Run

Well, it was one of those afternoons. I got off of work and I was heading out on the town to get some dinner when it was noticed that someone backed into me... The whole right rear of the fascia is all scratched up and on the curve of the rear there is a 9 inch crack in the fiberglass. Needless to say I am
Of course the sorry XXXXXXXX didnt leave any contact info. WTF. And to think I literally just had the lower part of the rear painted jet black 2 weeks ago... man. My baby is hurt...

sigh...

I know how you feel. It's happened to me twice now, one in my Z06 and one in my old Z28. Fortunately the Z06 one wasn't very bad (I was able to buff it out with some zaino). The one that happened in my Camaro, I had to get the whole front end replaced they hit it so hard.....I hate some people

Man that really sucks. I was at a gas station parked at the pump and when I started to reach for the nozzle and heard my horn blowing and by the time I turned around the car was shaking. My wife was sitting in the car
blowing the horn because she trying to let this lady know she was coming toward our 04 330. Too late, she didn't even look where she was going. It was a 1500.00 dent. I told her I was glad we were not driving the gas truck or a kid standing behind her.

You know, accidents happen, but there is no excuse for not leaving any info, or at least a simple note.

I had my brand new truck hit by someone in a parking structure. No note, no name, no nothing, except for $1200.00 damage.

Really sorry it happened. I feel your anger. It has happened to me too!! You are left holding the bag with responsibility for the police report, insurance mess and body shop arguments - then you have to hope that in the end, it is repaired well.

I think some dirtbags basically do it on purpose too!!

Man I feel your pain!

Had my MY`02Z in Manhattan about last fall and a freakin' cab edged to my left quarter - and I felt him nudge! Course, he honked his horn at ME after he hit ME and sped off!

Fortunately, scuff marks buffed out....

Another time, I took delivery of a sweet, red, Audi TT roadster on Xmas week. Took it from the dealership to the mall to do shopping. Nice dent in the pass. door awaited me upon my return from shopping!!!

Yes, most people will hit you -even though maybe not maliciously - then look around to see if you are near. If not, guess what? FI! I'm outta here. They've got insurance. Who cares!

Point? It happens to everyone who ever had a nice car! If you drove a clapped-out sh*t-box, you couldn't drive it into a wall if you tried!

Hope your car gets pristine again real soon!!

Cheers

Jim

If your car is in San Diego, go to Phillip Thearle's Autowerks in Santee. They do a great job on body work and paint matching. They specialize in high end cars. I've seen the likes of Astin Martins, Jaguars, mercedes, BMWs, etc. being worked on there.

They did a great job on my front bumber after my better half rolled the garage door down on it. It was small and repairable. You can't tell that there was a repair, the paint matching was great.

Well, I guess the good thing is that I can now look at gettting a newer fascia, maybe one with the overhang that makes the car look longer, racier... Its just a pain. Thanks for the support
This group rocks

The first day at work the same sh!t happened to me. The Z was just a few months old and I had parked it far away as usual. I come out and notice scrapes on the top of the front bumper as if some suv went so in the space ahead of me he parked ontop of my car. I had the bumper repainted but the bumper line is still very slightly lower than the hood line.

people suck

sorry to hear.

I just thought of a story where I caused someone to get what they deserved. I was walking out of class and toward my car. In the parking lot, almost at my car, I hear this loud crash and can see it about 50 yards away. A ford ranger had plowed into a parked jeep (when I say plowed I mean hit the jeep and stayed on the gas long enough to have the rear tires spin some more). The girl got out of her truck, looked at the damage, got back into her truck with her airbags deployed, and proceeded to leave thinking that nobody saw the accident. Well, I saw it and another 75 yards away or so a cop was just chillin waiting for speeders and didn't hear the accident. I ran up to the cop and told him about what happened and where she was headed so he proceeded to chase her. About a mile down the road she was caught red handed with all the front damage on her car and my description. She was brought back to the scene of the crime and I left soon after. I felt like I did a good deed that day.

Sorry about your mishap Junky...but like you stated...get a different fascia and turn the lemon into lemonade...still sucks though.

Sorry to hear this. I park as far away from mainstream as possible. Even if it means walking a minute to the door. Can never be too cautious. There are some people out there that I literally think it is their mission to seek out and damage nice cars. The door dings are the worst! Its like they say "ooops" and go about their daily duties. Some people really suck. I parked in an adjacent lot to Walmart where there were ZERO cars. I even parked a few slots farther. came out and not one, but TWO cars parked next to me. One left. One right. I went over my car with a fine toothed comb and sat and WAITED like a predator to give them a peice of my mind. Kids.....They sai dthey liked the car so they wanted to park near it. I told them the golden rule of anyone who parks that far is anal and not one to be played with. They apologized for raising my stress level, but understood. Now....There is an unfortunate man who parked next to my 1991 Camaro at JFK airport some years back. He parked so f-ing close, I could not even SQUEEZE between his car an dmine to get in my driver door. I had to go through passenger side and hop over console. I WAS PISSED! And he parked his car in a drive where other cars had to drive around his because it was the lane to drive in. Well, I am sure he wasn't happy when he got back to HIS car.....That's all I am saying......
