Im just wondering. the 20 extra horses dont really mean much to me. the 385, for me is plenty.
Im trying to see how much 2001s are costing.
How much are you all selling em for?
or how much off are dealers selling them for in order to make room for the 2002s?
Im just trying to figure out if it would be better to get a brand new one, and pay the taxes and all(how much does luxary tax come out to anyway?), or go and get one from someone who is selling there 2001 to get a 2002.....

I'm keeping mine for at least another year. I figure that this time next year will be the time to "upgrade" to a 2002 Z06. 2002 is a lame duck year for the Vette anyway as many people will be holding out for the 50th anniversary cars. More will be holding out for the C6 in 2004 so the 2002's should be a steal all model year long, but especially at the end of the model year. I'm aniticipating $5,000 discounts on Z06's by this time next year, especially if the economy doesn't rebound considerably.

I'm hanging on to mine. The damn thing has more usuable power than I will ever use on the streets of St. Louis.

Would I like a new '02?? Yep!!

Will the wife let me get one?? Nope!! She has all the $$$ and all the Pu$$y!!

Our game plan is to wait on the C6. 18-24 months after its debut, expect something special. Will they call it a Z06?? IDK

Check the For Sale Section.

I think that their are a few ZO6's in their.

A few dealers are discounting up to $4000 off of MSRP on 01' ZO6's.

I wish that this trend were true for the 02'.

I have seen dealers in Pa offering 5k off 01' Z06's, in talking to them many of their customers were holding off for the 02's after all the bad press about the oil usage. One dealer has called me 3 times now and is making me an almost unbelievable offer, I am thinking about it because it is white in color (which I wanted) and I have my 427 block in my engine builders hands. Sold my '01 for 1K less than I paid, also lost the taxes.....but I got almost a full year out of the tags, the reg was due in a month. The 02 is on order, I did it because of the minor improvements, the issues the general addressed wasn't a problem with my car but I've heard alot about oil control problems. I also wonder about the clutch, it was improved and I saw a buy-back locally that had the clutch replaced @2400 miles!
Plus you can never have enough HP!

I am going to wait for however long it takes to get 425 HP. After all, I waited 28 years between purchases of my 72 Shark and the QS Z!!!

I am selling my '01 Zee, because I am crazy about the new Electron Blue and want HUD.

Matter of fact, if you know anyone interested, let me know. I will be very anxious to sell it when I know the build date of the E-blue Z06. I suspect the new one due in about the end of August, and can deliver the '01 Z06 to just about any state!

Mr. 3322: Welcome to the Fourm.... I would love to drive it to Colorado Springs ( I used to live in Northglenn, Colorado.)!

Carl... do it, there will not be another Speedway White Z06 built and with the 427 (I am severely JEALOUS) you don't need no steenking HUD!

The 385 is more than enough for me now (427 later?!)

I think you are considering all of the important factors. Knowing what I know now, I would probably opt for a heavily discounted, new 2001. I don't buy used performance cars. The actual differences in the cars are inconsequential. If you keep the car for 7 years or more, there won't be much difference in the resale value either.

The lux tax is 3% on the excess of your purchase price above $38,000

I am holding on to mine....for now. I agree with CorvetteS/S in that the 02s will be "steeply discounted" by this time next year, plus you have the option of going up to an 03 if the numbers are there.

You also take less of a hit on depreciation by keeping the car an extra year, especially if you trade it in.

Carl: Do it! Speedway White is gone, if your pulling the engine, an 02 is a waste of your $$$. You are upgrading the clutch anyway right?

Zippy gets his cars for free, so he doesn't care.

Only 3300 miles on mine and it's still perfect so it's a keeper.

It's just a Halltech TRIC away, just put that mod on the ZO6 and you are at that mark.
