I just had a punctured tire last night , and I am looking to get a new one. Does any of the vendors on this forum offer better deal than TireRack?
BTW, the tire inflator kit worked great . I will probably share my experience using it in another thread. It took me less than 10 minutes to be on the road again. Very
How good is a repair going to be? Is it a 100% like new? I would think not, right?
I drive my car pretty hard, and by the same reason that I would never get on my bike knowing that my equipment is not 100%, I am not sure I would feel comfortable driving my Z knowing that my tires may not be 100%.
I am not stating a fact here, I am just wondering if anyone on this forum would rather fix a tire and at what price or change it alltogether no matter how little damaged it is...
I did not really think of fixing it, so thank you for bringing this up
Do a search on this subject. It has been covered extensively. A fix does impact the tire's performance, but unless you are racing or the damage was severe, you should be OK for regular driving.
Just my .02. I am not a tire expert.

I just figured that I can get a new rear oem tire for a little less than $300 (shipped) from TireRack. Would you know what is the cost of the "plug fix-it"?
You should go with a patch on the inside. Should be around $20-$50 depending on where you go. I had a patch put on one of my rears at about 15K and drove the tire till I replaced the rears at 25k. Never had a problem at all.
gmblack3 thanks for the good news!!! I would have really been annoyed to have to replace the tire for a simple puncture, and I wanted to to probe this forum before making my decision.
From what I read on earlier threads, and now your experience, I believe I will just fix it and see how it goes. My tire has only 2,800 miles. Truly would be a shame to replace it with so much thread left.
Concur with gmblack3. Try a patch. Monitor pressure more frequently. I punctured the rear tire on my old RX-7 and had it patched. Ran it on the track this way with no problems (after monitoring it for about a month).
You guys are great... Thanks for the feedback! I took an appointment for tomorrow to get this done. Patch it is...
I know it will be a little bit more then $40.00 as they have to remove the sealant I had to put in before inflating the tire to keep driving yesterday and today.
Same thing happened to me w/ 2000 miles. A local Goodyear dealer patched it from the inside using some sort of special shaped patch. Cost= $20 and No problems. (An exterior plug is dangerous)
FWIW, if you go to an America's Tire or Discount Tire (same company) establishment, they'll fix it for free. I had a nail in my left rear and got it done this way. It's their company policy to fix flats free of charge.
