Interesting correction in 5/26 autoweek XLR is equipped with 6 speed auto tranny?

Page 4 corrections column:

A May 12 feature should have said the Cadillac XLR is equipped with a six speed automatic transmission.

Is this true?

Couldn't tell you. Just thought you guys might find this interesting as the XLR and the C6 are sharing many portions of platform. As many of you others have read...the XLR is supposed to have a 5 speed automatic transmission built in a vacuum so the transmission can handle the torque of the engine..(or so I believe)

Could the C6 and the XLR be sharing automatic transmissions?

Maybe the 5 speed tranny was blowing up? maybe MB's announcement of moving to a 7 speed automatic has promted the move by GM to a six speed automatic?

Maybe its just misinformation..

What do you think?
