Is it known yet whether Chevrolet will be selling a 2014 Z06?
So With the C7 being rolled out next year, Do we know if Chevrolet will be selling new 2014 Z06s late next year, Or will there be a drought of new Z06s until a delayed introduction of the C7 z06 (or equivalent)?
Put another way, Does anyone know when the next new batch of z06 type vehicles Will be sold?
My reason for asking is that I'm planning to buy a low miles used 2012 Z06 at the end of 2013 and am wondering whether prices on those will remain essentially steady , drop as would be expected when a new year of Z06s come onto the market, or even go up if no Z06s are introduced for an extended period.

I think whether they make a Z or not, the prices on the C6 will drop. Historically, the previous gen always does. Lord knows I've experienced it enough.

Haven't heard any rumors about the C7 Z06 yet. However, I'm 99% sure there will NOT be one for the model year 2014. Beyond that is anyone's guess. On a side note, I do believe the C7 will be very close to the C6Z's level of performance for much less money. And it should be an overall tighter package.
I think it is possible that C6Z values *could* stabilize or even go up slightly for a very brief window of time after the C7 release. There are too many factors to know for sure. But in my opinion, the medium-term trend on the C6Z is down for many many years, probably a couple of decades even. I wouldn't expect it to rise back to (or above) its original value anytime soon.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Corvettes. They almost never retain value unless extremely rare, which the C6Z is not. Essentially, the best thing it has going for it is the "427", which is proving lately to be somewhat sketchy in terms of reliability. Never-the-less, some guys will always pay a premium for those 3 little digits. But they usually expect the car to have ultra-low mileage too.
Bottom line: if you're looking for an investment, look somewhere else. Otherwise, enjoy your new Z06 and welcome aboard!

My guess is that we won't see a C7Z06 until 2015 at the earliest IF GM even decided to make one.

Being the Corp fuel mileage in 2 years is 36 MPG and even with new LT1 for C7 is only about 30 MPG forget anything but base LT1 engine for 2014 MY
As to prices C6 will lose more worth as many models of Camaro have outdone what C6s have for less sticker price and for final year of this designed Camaro for 2014 GM has choose to option the LS7 for it to carry them to next design of 2015.
Looks like any other C7 model such as GS or Z06 will be smaller engine with some type of boost in 2016
What has to be seen is how the Corvette buyers will stand for the 4/8 cylinder modes as who wants to drive a Corvette with 4 cylinders being dragged along with the 4 active ones below 3,200 RPM and a new PCM that cannot be tuned for some time until and if someone cracks the security access it has

I'm in agreement on this one. Right now, not getting rid of my C5-Z. From what I've seen of the C7 design I'm not liking it too much. But man, I am REALLY liking the new Viper. 640bhp, all the modern technology and an interior cabin with better ergonomics which will allow my 6'3" frame feel somewhat comfortable sitting in. But the price? The stealerships are all likely to add their 20+% to the base price...and that too will likely put it out of my range....but maybe not.

Re: Is it known yet whether Chevrolet will be selling a 2014 Z06?
From what I am seeing, the C5 Z06 is starting to find a bottom. Real nice, low Mileage cars are selling for as much or more than a year ago. This has been verified by a major Vette Pricing Newsletter. They say that the new C7 will start at $55,000. With extras and fees you won't be able to touch one for less than Sixty-Something. That makes the C5 look more attractive. The LS6 is durable, dependable, easy to mod and increase HP and a blast to drive. I also find that more and more people like the unique hardtop look. My 2-cents for what it is worth.
Re: Is it known yet whether Chevrolet will be selling a 2014 Z06?
One more way to look at C5 Z06 Prices. If you buy a real nice, low mileage C5 Z06 for around 25 Grand now, I would bet that 5 years from now it will be worth at least 18 Grand, in nice condition and under 70,000 Miles. That means you paid 7 Grand to drive this great car for 5 years. A little over a grand a year. In 10 years it MIGHT be worth close to what you paid for the car. Time will tell. If you buy a new C7 it will drop close to 10 grand the first year. The yearly Calif. lic. fee on a C5 Z06 is pretty cheap, A new C7 would be pushing $700 per year for the first several years.. It's all about what you want and financial position. Money does not matter to some people, they can buy anything they want. I am happy for them, others like me need to consider the cost. The C5 Z06 is a exceptional value, for a exceptional performance car.

Scott,
Seems to me your last 2 posts contradict each other. The low mileage cars will always hold a better value than the higher mileage ones.
Either way, I agree with the others as far as investment in cars goes.

I was talking about what others are saying in my first post. I was giving what I think is our worse case est. in the second post and my way of looking at the value. I have a freind that goes to all the major dealer auctions in Northern California. He told me that nice C5 Z06's have dried-up, he never see's them. One thing we know for sure. Cars depreciate the most during the first 5 years. Day one is the most expensive.
You are so right about investments. Cars generally are not investments, even "classics" in my opion. Best to look at them as something you enjoy.

You still have that 12 second monster?
