Once the new C6 coupe arrives, are any of you planning on trading in your Z for a 2nd or 3rd model year regular C6? based on engine specs would you view this as a lateral trade?

The C6 coupe would have to have the Z51 option to approach being .9 what the current Z06 is, performance-wise.
I'm not crazy about the new styling, so I'm not real enthused about giving up .1 and going backwards in style too. It's going to take a lot more to get me to give my current car the boot.

the C6 is much better than the current Z06 in my opinion.. performance wise the Z06 may have the edge but in a few years the C6 will out perform it... most people hate the way the C6 looks... but give it a year... and everyone will love it... survival of the fittest
I need to see a few C6s on the road to make a determination on styling. I have seen too many cars over the years that I didn't like in magazines, but found I liked a few months after they came out and I saw them on the road.
I wouldn't call the C6 a lateral trade though. A standard Vette is nice, but a Z06 is something special.
I'm waiting to see what the C6 Z06 looks like and then wait at least one model year before I think of trading. I'll only trade to a new Z06, not the current C6
Here's the difference -- I own outright my 03 Z I have no desire to jump into another loan situation, and I doubt that a C6 Z would be a straight out trade. Just remember GM wants you to keep buying cars

To me there is something special about the C5 Z06. I saw the C6 in person. The interior on the C6, in my opinion, looks cheaper and less plush than the C5. It looks like a Pontiac Grand Prix. The door handles look out of place and I don't like the way they did the rear end. It's something like what they did on the 2003-2004 Cobra, by finishing off the bottom rear in black. As far as the Euro lights in the front, it's just going to look like any other Euro sportscar now. The only thing I really liked about it was the front bumper cover. Other than that it really didn't appeal to me. I also stood around for about 1/2 hour to listen to other people's opinions on it, and the reaction was not as great as when the C5 came out. Sometimes you can't improve something that is already perfect. Just like you can't change the love for the C2 body style. I definitely think we have something special. And, I think the C5 has it's own characteristics, just like the C2 body style. There's people that own C4's that just can't wait for the prices to come down so they can get into a C5. I think it's going to be one of the most desireable bodystyles next to the C2.
I'm really going to miss the hidden headlights. It is great at night, and it gives a flair to the car when you open them at night.
I'll reserve final judgement on the C6 until I am up close to the real car. I've only seen pictures at this point, and am not thrilled with the look of it. When I first saw pictures of the C5 I said "whoa momma!" and then when I saw the real car I knew I had to have one. The C6 just hasn't had the same effect. Besides - why pay more for less performance. I might be a believer when the C6 Z06 comes out, that should be a rockin' ride.
