LG Motorsports at Motor Sport Ranch 2/8/04

Here are some photos of their new World Challenge cars and my car lined up as a "team member." Lou was very nice as was his entire crew. They staged a 10 lap match race with the 2 Challenge cars against 3 Vipers campaigned by Bobby Archer. Bobby won with Lou finishing second in the blue Vette. The black car seemed to have some trouble and was not competitive.

Awesome.

I don't mind wings on cars knowing they serve a purpose and those ones actually "fit" the car. It's these guys running around on the streets with them that I laugh at. So Bobby Archer is going to be running Speed GT with the vipers. Should be intersting.

The engine compartment resembled ours as far as components. Some differences such as a dry sump. The interiors were pretty well gutted. I should have taken more photos but it was cold and windy that day and most of us were huddled in the club house or sitting in our vehicles with the heat running.

They're dry sumped motors. I believe have to run the GMPP heads and cam. The exhaust and intake (everything but the manifold itself) is open to whatever the builder can come up with. I'm pretty sure thats all they can do. Lou would be the one to answer all your questions though, and tell you what is really in these motors. I think the guys with the bigger motors are pushing 500hp. They usually have to run more weight though than say a Porsche 911 or BMW to make up for the difference.

There is going to be a private backed Pontiac GTO running this year. Between all the Corvette's, Pontiac, and Cadillacs this year GM is going to be winning a lot.
