Ron, I know what you mean. I agree the hatchback is for the vegas, pintos and pacers. I understand why they have the hatchback but for that same reason is why it should not have the "performance" option too. Obviously the days of having options for drive trains are long gone but I think that would be a step back in the right direction. I think they should offer 2 performance options for the hatchback and drop top. Offer the LS1 for the folks that just want a vette to cruise in, like my 50+ year old neighbor lady. Then offer an LS2 for the hatchbackers or top downers that want more power, like my other neighbor, but who don't the luxury sacrifices that the big performance packages typically call for. I think they should have a unique model that is the true performance model. Personally I like the FRC. I think it has the best looking lines. From the things I have been reading, I certainly take them with a "lump" salt, the new model might not be the FRC body style as you FRCTom and I know and love. As the rumor mongers tell it, it would be a fastback as you called it. I am not yet sure how I would like that, certainly better than the hatchback. Remember, All 1963 Z06s were fastbacks with the split window, no hatchbacks at all in those days. Would a fastback with a split window for the new Z06 be an appropriate model? That might be a decent "retro" style look along with providing a stiffer body and more aerodynamics. I guess we will just have to wait and see. There will probably be as many people talking about this as there are with the engine power / displacement, the overall weight and the price. Only the folks working on it know for sure at this time. All I can do is enjoy what I have at this time and wait for the real unveiling.
PS. I would go with FRCTom's info.
Don
