M3 guy who is ready for a Z06

Hello all-

Just wanted to introduce myself since it looks that I will be probably spending some time on here. I currently have an 02 M3 that I really do enjoy. Its a wonderfall car that does everything well. But it needs a v8

So after driving a buddies Z06 I realized that this is the car for me. So I found a 2002 silver z06 with 13k miles in San diego. They want 39k for the car. Seems like a good price from the little bit of research ive done. Gonna go check it out tomorrow and if all is well I'll trade in the ///M and be coming hope with 400hp!

Look forward to sharing stories with you guys

Cheers

Mark

Welcome! I almost picked up an E46 M3 just before I laid down the cash for the Z. It was definitely a very well built car, but I came to the same conclusion as you...I needed more grunt. The Z is not as well built as the M3 (Interior wise anyway), but makes up for it's one short coming with speed, power & style. Look forward to seeing you on the BB!

Aloha, Dave

Mr. Siiik-Welcome to the ZO-6 Vette forum. You are going to love all the members and info. You are making a step forward/backward trading the Beemer. However, you will not be disappoint. You can do SO much more for less on the Vette. There is no limit. Interior fit and finish is the step back but can be handled with aftermarket providers of interior; dash and leather. What I enjoy is a Damm good looking car with an attitude. Performance wise I could tell stories about M-Cars I had for lunch BEFORE I had TT's. Only the AMG cars, TT Porsche's, and Vipers would give a good accounting of themselves and, on occasion, best me when I had heads, cam, headers, and bolt ons only three years ago. My rwhp then was only 395. Today the ZO-6's are over 400rwhp and above. Welcome again and enjoy the forum and your new ZO-6.

Made a mistake when I chose an E46 M3 over a Z06 approx. 16 months ago.

6 months after that decision, I corrected it by trading it in for a new Z06.

Having owned both, there's no comparison when it comes to performance, and surprisingly, respect from other car enthusiasts.
Every 2nd ricer wanted to race my M3. Was getting tired of it.
Now with the Z, they all look the other way, or don't pull up beside me, or take a turn. On the track, a modified Mustang I spanked was convinced I used NOS on our run, and had to prove it to him by flipping open my hood. Boy did he walk away quickly with his tail between his legs....

I still have a thing for the E46 M3, and if I could afford it, I would own both. But alas, my financial situation makes that difficult.
So if it's the M3 or Z06, there's absolutely no hesitation choosing the Z. She never fails to bring a smile to my face every time I see her in the garage.
