This may be a stupid question for you picture posters but .....
Why do some of you erase your license plate when you post a picture of your car ? I guess if you are doing something illegal I would understand but your car in the driveway ? Do you cover it up when you drive down the road ?

Never quite got that one either. I guess some feel it's one thing to have your tag viewable to those anonymous souls driving down the road, and another to have it available to someone here who could, theoretically make a connection here, and use it in a negative manner somewhere down the road.
I know I've raised the ire of a least a few individuals over the couple of years I've been here, and I posted my tag more than once. So......could someone have looked up my tag and come after me?? Yeah, I guess so.
It's more likely to happen at work for me though. Someone I've arrested in the past follow me home etc. I know one guy who I put in prison has vowed to get me sometime before he dies. He got out once, and they let me know he's out, but right now he's back in.
Or maybe the other avenue is just the fear of Identity theft, paranoia, whatever.
Everytime you go to a car show, a Z06 Fest, whatever your tag get photographed a hundred times anyway, so I just never bothered to hide mine???
I was thinking of getting one of those tags you can push a button and it goes blank. I found a link once , but forgot what it called now. They're about $200.

WOW, You sure it's safe to hang out with you
Maybe you should tell you wife to come along on the 11th....
It's a STUPID Question....you asked! "" Just kidding.
Some people feel that showing their plates is a potential way of giving out personal information etc. There may be ways to track down state issued plate info besides Law enforcement.
Basically its very easy to reference plates. Some folks don't like advertising. As some folks have said, its not good advertising either to the public (some weirdo stalker) or to someone in GM who might decide to cancel your warranty...

If GM canceled my warranty I would have to just LMAO. They need to focus on other things like building a $55 car that had a good paint job
I ain't skeered! If you're skeered say you're skeered!!!

If I was a car theif, I think there is so much info given out on these forums as to cause concern to any car owner. There was a post from a few weeks ago stating, "show me your garage". And of course people posted pics of their garages with all their toys inside. I was tempted to also post pics, but then said, "It doesn't take a brain surgeon to find out where someone lives and visit them when they're out or even worse when they're home!!! I decided not to post. WHEW!!!! I've vented and feel better now.
I've had cars stolen out of my driveway and It REALLY SUCKS!!!
anyone else???
