Hi guys. My stock Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires just got replaced with Michelin Pilots........ the Goodyears lasted me 6000 miles but I pushed it to 7300.....
No regrets here.... the Michelin is a superior tire! Does anyone agree? I'm runing stock sizes for my 2002 QS Z06.
What better about the Michelins.... better ride and more traction....
What's not good about the Michelins.... the price! The Goodyears run around $950 for a set of 4... the Michelins costs me $1300.
I should have known better to use Michelins earlier.... I use their Pilot Race tires for my track bike.... AWESOME! I shoud've expected the same level of quality with their auto line of tires.
Sorry Goodyear..... you look good as a blimp but the Michelins look better on my Z!
I just put new MPS's on my Z and I do like the look. I don't have enough miles or performance driving on them to say anything other than the ride feels real good, but so far I really do like them. They are a lot quieter, that's for sure.
While I like the Pilots, and assume they ride better, from what I have heard they don't have the dry stick of the F1. In the wet they are far superior though...
If you want a really amazing tire, try the Pilot Sport Cups...they are incredible tires...
Damn Joe - those wheels and tires look awesome:cool: Mike

Did you have to stick to almost stock width tire in the back cause they're 19's? Or could you go a little wider?
Mike: They are 295/35's. I think the next step for PS's is 345/35, obviously too big.
I've heard they may be making some 315 sizes soon and I may try to upgrade to that.
I, too, have heard great things about the Pilots but have no personal experience with them. My only complaints about the SuperCars is the hydroplaning. Traction on wet pavement isn't bad unless there is standing water. Yuk!
They are quieter, maybe because of the tread pattern, or maybe because they come with more tread on them than the F-1's. Perhaps they will get noisier when they get down to 7/32's???

You can hear your tires?
Buick Yup I hear them. In germany we can't (not supposed) exceed 90 decibles. I'm sure my exhaust is louder than that because the German Vettes whisper like a singer sewing machine. Whenever I fore off the Z it gets noticed fast. The noise police sit on the side of the road and measure your exhaust noise as you drive by, and if it goes ovr they snap your picture and send ya ticket, which you then have to go get a TuV inspection to verify the exhaust is repaired or they impound the car. Doesn't matter if I'm USA or not. Almost lost my Hareley with the 2 1/2" porker pipes on it once.
But anyway, yea them tires are noisy ! I'd rather hear exhaust, but since I can't I'll have to settle for hearing music at 120mph; and if tires are more quite then that's good.

I agree. I have the Pilot Sports on my G35 Coupe. I know it's a different car and all, but I feel the Pilots definitely don't have the ultimate dry grip as the F1 Supercars. In the rain though, it's no contest - the Pilots are much better.

My son lives on his own and he needed a ride to the airport last night. He was looking forward to the 100 mile round trip in the Vette, as opposed to a quick "spin" around the block. But, it was raining heavily so of course I took the Honda Accord despite my sons objects.
Why? Goodyear's hydro plane above 45mph in standing water.
Had a similar problem with Mich. MMX's on my Toyota Supra. It became a totally different car in the rain, I could actually drive it, once I put on the Mich. Pilot Sports. Great tire, smooth, quiet, and the magzines claim the MMX's are better in the dry, but never noticed any loss.
Just be sure NOT to get the All Season rubber compound. They are cheaper, and not worth a dime....
I had the Michelin Pilots on my CCWs(275/35-18,335/30-18s), stock size Pilots on my RAT Black wheels, and have another set coming (on the HRE's I just bought). Very satisfied with them. I think the Goodyears are stickier(dry roads), but the Michelins are a better all-around tire for New England weather (rain :( and they are quieter).
