$400 for one tire is ridiculous. I got two rears from Tirerack for $580, shipped. Ordered them on a Friday, delivered the following Monday by 10: AM.

Tire monitoring kit..

Sorry to hear that...
That's why we offer a tire monitoring kit, that provides both air pressure and temperature...that alerts you when your air pressure is too low...and gets to a certain level....It won't prevent blowouts, and leaks...But it sure will let you know that the air pressure has gotten too low..

Like others have said, pick up a single 97-99 C5 rim. Full sets of those go for about $250 used and the front 245/45/17 tires are fairly easy to find. You might ride a little crooked, but you wouldn't use it long enough to cause any tire damage.

As far as your new tire goes, does that tire place have a price match offer? The tires I just bought came with a 1 month price match- if I find a better price, show them and they'll refund the difference. Hopefully you can get some of that $400 back. $100 for mounting and balancing is rediculous.

I'll check them out.. thanks.

for those that suggested getting a spare rim... sounds like a good idea... an old beat up c5 rim or even a scraped up z06 rim with a tire on it would be good to keep in the garage.

MARZ06... yes i agree... that's why i'll try to have some sort of backup so that i can afford to order online and wait for the tires instead of being caught with my pants down.

gary... thanks for the suggestion... it's worth considering cause after hearing the inital pop... it still didn't feel like a flat until i actually got out of the car and saw it.

javelin... the place i got the tire was the local chevy service dept... i don't think they'd entertain the idea of price matching... they might find the idea/question entertaining though.

Don, Sorry about your mishap. There are definitely FEW bargains when it comes to Our cars. I think I and many others here will go out and purchase a spare tire and Jack just for the Garage and maybe kept onboard for those long trips.

5% of the purchase cost go to this web site ? Good deal. The sponsors here seem to be competitive and have good prices.

Only on the Tirerack deal, not regular vendors. And just so everyone knows, the 5% is not tacked on You can visit Tirerack normally and check the price, then click the ad and go in that way....you'll see the same price....Why not have em mail us that 5% rather than keep it

Go to the junk yard and pick-up a Camaro tire and wheel to keep at home.
