It is up under the car on the drivers side rear area. If you look over towards the side of the frame you can follow the fuel lines to it if you have an 01-early 03 model.. If you are late 03-04 you have a FFS fuel system which is in the tank. Don

Re: n00b question.. fuel filter

Also, don't be confused by the fact that there are *3* lines coming off the filter. The C5s use an integrated filter/regulator. There's a fuel in and a return on the side of the filter closest to the Tank, and the fuel feed to the front of the car on the side facing away.

Also, word to the wise... the stupid bayonette connectors are a pain to disconnect/reconnect. You're going to get some fuel spillage while you struggle with the damn things.

Re: n00b question.. fuel filter

Don't forget to remove the pressure from the system via the schrader valve on the fuel rail before disconnecting the filter assembly.

Just pop off the drivers fuel rail cover and you'll find a cap on the front end of the fuel rail. Inside you'll find a shrader valve (like your tire valve stem). Wrap some rags around the area and push the center button to release system pressure. Changing the filter is messy enough with the pressure relieved, you don't want to do it with the system pressurized.

Yep so if you do not have specific related problems you may want to pass this up for a while. How many miles do you have on your Z? What are the issues you are having? Any? Don

Re: n00b question.. fuel filter

I remember reading somewhere that the in-tank fuel filters are good for the life of the car....Not sure if this is true or not though....

Either way, I wouldnt replace it unless you are having a problem with a clogged filter....

I would leave it if you are not having issues. I'll see if I can dig up the change interval for the 03-04's. It may be like the above posted no change needed if no issues.
