Wondering how you guys park your z? I went to a movie the other night, and parked what seemed like a 1/2 mile away from anyone, and the theater, and double parked it.
I come out and find a nice wad of spit on my hood!!!!!! A**hole!
I park far away to avoid stuff like that, and if I want to double park, I'm not taking up a "good spot" for anyone else or an elderly person!!!! What gives?
Should I not have double parked? Do you guys? Does it just piss people off?
Personally, I think that double parking it causes more attention. I park just like you, half a mile away, as well as at the closest spaces available and I haven't had 1 problem yet. I don't use two spaces though.
I don't double park but yes i park wayyyyy out. if im going to be in some where too long i try not to take the Z. I just wont go to the mall around Christmas in the Z cause of drivers with cell phones and too may old people would aim for the yellow car.
ya i came out one time and found spit on my car. I know its from someone who is jealous, i always think what you want me to take what i have and give it to you would that make you feel better. any ways as long as its not keyed no hard feelings?
I think the double parking might have done it but your never know. I once had someone throw an egg on my Z when it was parked (legally) in my own car port at the apartment complex I live in. I had gone to New York for a couple of days and was a mad as hell when I returned and saw what was done to the car. Luckily the egg hit the windshield and so I didn't have any paint damage.
At the movies, I tend to keep the car away from the crowd but sometimes you have people stick their's right next to the Z, even when there are plenty of empty parking slots nearby. Well, what can you say about such people. For instance, yesterday there was this SUV parked so close to the Z that I had to twist myself into a pretzel just to enter the car.

Being raised in Detroit, plus having two new cars stolen from me in the past, I very seldom take the Vette anywhere that I have to park and turn my back on it. I use the other car.
I think when you double park you are giving the impression "Look at me, my car is better than yours, thats why I am double parked far out from everyone else". I agree with the above, it attracts more attention to other passerbyers. If you park far out, there is no need to double park....I always used to find a nice end spot and if none are available park far out on one of the ends so the car is not in the middle all by itself attracting attention.
Sometimes it does more harm than good when you try hard to prevent things like this. The assholes always seem to find you no matter what.
Good luck.

I believe it does draw more attention parking far away I do it with my daily driver but never leave my Vette unattended, the only way I know to keep it as perfect as a driven car can be
Just look for a parking spot away from the "main" area. I prefer parking stalls that are in the corner next to planters or curbs with only one side exposed to another parking stall.
Definitely refrain from using two spots, always attracts unwanted attention.
I typically search for an end spot and park to the extreme side of it without going over the line. I also like to park under well lighted area when I am forced to leave my car in a lot.

On the contrary, I always look for the closest spot to the door I am going in. It usually winds up buried between two SUVs -- it is usually so hard to see that I have trouble finding it later. Out of sight, out of mind, maybe, but I've never had a problem yet. And if someone does hit it with a door, that's what BSM are for. .

Me too. It drives my wife crazy. Especially because I usually find a spot *really* darn close, after driving past all her suggested spots ("what's wrong with that one?").
My motto is "there's always a space up front for a Corvette".
I've been doing it this way for the last 5 years (first with my 98 Coupe, now the Z). The 98 took a few blows to the side-view mirrors over 4 years, but not much more. And hey, the car's *plastic*, it isn't going to rust or dent. It's only paint, it's cheap money to fix.

I used to double park then I stopped because I was afraid it would cause more attention then need be. I still park far out or find a large space on an end where only one side can be parker next to then I park it really close to the curb so even a door on a float boat couldn't touch my Z. Those are my techniques. I think the double park thing does cause undue attention especially on a nice ride like the Z, and for me even more so because it is Yellow.
