Potential fix for the nasty BRAKE DUST!!

Just got off the phone with my local Raybestos Rep....Looks like I might get a comp set of Raybestos Quiet Stop Ceramic pads....

Ceramics are LOW dusting, and carry similar performance characteristics to semi-metallic pads...

Here is the link.....http://www.raybestos.com/quietstop.htm

I will report in when I get them installed, and my feelings regarding the dust and stopping changes.....I have a G-Tech and will get some baselines before the change.....

Front PN: PGD 731QS
Rear PN: PGD 732QS

Thats sounds great Z0000006. I would really like to know what you find out. I dont mind washing ny wheels after every trip but if I could get away with not doing it, it would be alright with me. I sure do like how it stops now though. I was out playing this weekend and I am just still blown away how this car performes. I love it.

Thanks

Will the new pads cause an increase in rotor wear?

This is great news so keep us posted. The same breaking power w/o the dust, can this be? Sounds too good to be true but my fingers are crossed. Thanks for the info. Bill

Hope you have better luck with Raybestos than I have. I've had horribly squeeky pads from them on more than one occassion, as well as defective rotors that warped in less than 150 miles on my daily driver. After all I've been through, I refuse to ever buy Raybestos again. Total junk, IMO.

I've had good luck with Bendix so far.

what are you dudes ranting about?

there is a perfectly true axiom, namely, the more track capable a pad one uses, the more dust one generates. period, with no exceptions.

and congruently, the more track capable a pad one uses, the worse one's rotor wear will be...

there is No reason for anyone to change from the stock pads who does not do road course work.

remember, it's operator dependant, if you "shock" your brakes, you will warp/crack your rotors, regardless.. treat em right and they'll do ya fine.

I can get 2 full days of road racing from a set of stock rotors, which is totally awesome, they are only $50 each to replace/throwaway.. the brake dust down the side of my car is insane.. depends on what pad ya run.

how bout those folks who clean their wheels after a one or two hundred mile drive LOL

cheers

Rave.....

Remeber, probably 90% of Z owners will NEVER see a road course the way you do.....You are a hard core tracker.....
My post is directed towards the "Joe Average" streeter....Not track guys such as yourself...

I just want clean wheels without carrying around a damn detail shop in my trunk!

I don't think I am alone....and yes I clean my wheels every 100 miles or so....just a pride thing I guess.....

We all enjoy our Vettes in different ways.....

Another Perfectly True Axiom

More dust equals less attractive.
