Pull key and wait message.....

In 2 weeks of daily driving, I've had the "pull key and wait 10 seconds" message 3 times but nothing about servicing the column lock. If I wipe the key and restart, everything is fine. I know sometimes the "pull key" warning is a precursor to the column lock issue, but is it ALWAYS?

I don't mind installing the CLB and it seems simple enough, but will that correct the issue or is it possible something else is also going on?

I've read through the main CLB threads but they don't seem to address my exact concern. I don't want to "fix" things if there are other issues lurking.

Most times this problem is leading to a weak cell of battery and does not handle the higher current draw on startup plus the current load of solenoid for column lock.

Before spending any money have the battery put on a load tester, many auto parts stores will do that for no charge
