Question for engine (building) experts...(break in procedure)

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
(It's for bike engines... but I guess it will apply to car engine
as well??)

How true are these claims on break in procedures??
Having no experience of opening up or building an engine... really
not sure if this guy is right?.. or the manufacturer??

Thanks,

Well, interesting reading indeed. My understanding is they start all these 06s at the plant and run them briefly on a chassis dyno. I don't know to what RPM but I heard a full pull. I have never worried about the engine per "break in" but I am hesitant to beat on the rest of the drivetrain. The guy makes some good points but I would just drive the car normally without a lot of drivetrain shock for 500 miles (although I went 1000 because everybody told me to do it that I know). As for the rings, I don't know what type of ring is in the LS6 but if it is a standard ring (not moly, chrome, etc.) it will seal FAST regardless of how you are driving.
I would think you will get a lot of comments on this.

Hmm... it makes sense to me if the manufacturer actually does
the described 20 mile breakin at the factory on a dyno...

It seems too much risk to me that some makers would actually
include synthetic oil in the engine if it is that bad for the break
in period...
(He recommends changing it out to dino-oil for the break in
period)

That is something I would not do. GM is not going to risk 1000s of claims on the chance that your engine will not seat with synthetics.
