Regardless of what year it is, how would you rate the build quality (fit and finish) of your ZO6?
This includes, paint, craftmanship, materials used (inside and out). This does NOT include performance, just fit and finish of the body exterior and interior.
I voted 'average' because I'm not very happy with the quality of my paint. Maybe it's because I've never owned a black car before but it seems to scratch if I look at it wrong. There are swirl marks that are visible under bright sunlight that were there from day one and I can't get them out.
Love it from top to bottom, all but the orange peel in the paint. I would think they could take care of that little problem. Not a squeak nor a rattle anyplace. Solid as a rock. The orange peel sucks big time. I have a new Bonneville SSEi and that has NO orange peel.
I too, could only vote "average" due to the poor paint. Can't they make a pass with a buffer or something to make the paint appear one notch above a Malibu?

My passenger side window trim looked just like this. Took it back to the dealer and their body shop did a good job of fixing it. I can't believe how many dirt spots I've found in the paint. The Z06 is my third C5 and with each new the quality gets a little less. I would have to say fit and finish is poor.
Never owned a black car before, and doubt I'd ever buy another
I am generally pleased with my '01. But I can sure relate to the guys with black cars. They show every GD swirl, nick, scratch, etc.com. I have been using Z5 and it's done a pretty darn good job of masking these swirl marks.
That being said, I know people in Hell want ice water, so I'll stop my bitching and live with it.
Poor at best. Try looking at the joints all around the car, spaces not equal around head-lites,hood/fender matches off (had to shim 1/8"), door to rocker smoothness off-getting sand blasting chips on lower door/rocker points, rear bumper not flush with the quarters. All-in-all pretty bad. I thought it might just be mine but I went into the dealership and viewed other C5's---the same problems (give or take). It took me about 1 1/2 hours to adjust many---if the 'line' person at GM took an extra 10 minutes it would be appreciated. Mechanically a great car--SMARTIN UP GM!!!!
I rated it pretty good. The only fit and finish issue I have is with the weather stripping around the doors. It's horrible! Extra glue globs everywhere, not straight, and it wasn't fitting right around the bottom drivers side window which was causing annoying wind noise above 60MPH, but has been *mostly* fixed by the dealer. It was like the weather strip installer at the factory was either: 1) a 7 year old, 2) drunk, or 3) a total slob who just didn't care. The rest of the car seems to have been put together very well - no paint issues, no orange peel (that I can see), body panels fit straight and tight, no rattles (other than that stupid exhaust jingle that most of the '02s have), etc.
