"Rock & Roll" Drivers seat !!!

Hello guys

I know this has been discussed many times but, it finally happened to my seat. It moves just enough to be annoying.

I know the common fix is to replace the track. Can someone tell me how it worked out and if the dealer got the fix right the 1st time around.

Any input appreciated !!!! Thanks in advance.........

Mine moves ever so slightly. Not enough to aggravate me yet though

Mine still solid. How many miles on your car? How much do you weigh? (Not trying to be personal) Just interested in seeing if the seat may age prematurely under additional stress. BTW, I tip the scales at around 270, so you'd have a hard time beating that.

I can beat that by a bit anyway. Mine's still solid too though, at 6,000 miles.

Chevrolet has issued TSB #02-08-50-002 "Driver Seat Movement During Acceleration and Braking (Replace Adjuster Assembly)". It applies to 1997 - 2001, and 2002 (built prior to VIN breakpoint 25106379) Corvettes with power seats (RPO AG1 or AG2).
The TSB states to replace the seat adjuster assembly with a new part released to correct the condition. The new part numbers are 88953528 (power driver seat without memory) and 88953529 (power driver seat with memory).

Thanks for getting back to me... To answer some of the questions.

a) 2,800 miles.
b) I weigh 200 lbs.

Guess I will take it in for the fix. Its real annoying and makes you feel like your NOT part of the car. Exactly what you don't want.

Man I love this forum... You ask it and it gets answered 99.99%
of the time... Thanks !!!

I tip 'em at 260. I have 5400 miles on my car and my seat is solid. I'd definitely take it in for service!!

What is also very annoying is the seat side supports. Here we have a car that can handle over a g in the corners (when I run track tires) and a seat that will not keep you planted. This results in the "grip of death" on the steering wheel and makes all your steering wheel inputs jerky. NOT a cool thing went you are at the car limits in the corners. Plus this sliding around get you very tried.

What I had to do is design and fabricated a adapter bracket for a Corbeau Forza seat. Now driving on the track is a pleasure.

I know this tread was about stock seat problems rocking problems, but I think the stock seat has other problems. This is how I approached it and came up with a win / win solution.

My husband has a '00 roadster and has had it in twice to get the seat fixed. I don't know what they did the first time, but it didn't stay fixed. He is around 190 pounds so I guess it doesn't matter what you weight - it's the defective seat track. It seems to be fixed this time. And, yes it is very annoying, especially if you are racing.
