Roof liner for tall people

Just bought an 03 Z and intend to track it as often as possible. Since I'm 6'4" tall, I'm finding it a bit cramped with my helmet on. I was told by a mechanic that he's seen a carbon fiber replacement ceiling panel that adds some headroom by eliminating styrofoam blocks forward of the top edge of the rear window.

Anyone seen this? Carbon fiber is not necessary - but headroom is :pp:

U can buy a headliner from an 02 and it will not have the blocks.

Interesting. Does that mean that the headliner doesn't drop to a lower level a few inches forward of the rear window? Any idea if the swap out is a difficult one? Seems like it'd be a peice of cake

Correct. I have an 02 and they had to replace the headliner. While it is not a big job, you need to be careful to ensure the side molding is re-installed correctly. It will leak if you don't have a good silicone bead under the molding.

At 6'4", I fit into the car with a helmet quite well

When I went to the track a fews weeks back, I had to drop my seat level slightly for the extra helmet space. No problems. When I left the track, I just hit the memory button and all was back to normal!

I have an '04 and am 6'5" tall.

got my '02 headliner from my dealer for $89 and they put it in for $35. Obviously, being 6'5", I'm not the best size to become a contortionist to install it myself

got 3 more inches of headroom....enough to wear my helmet at the track!!!
