I picked up the 3 volume Service Manual for the 2002 Corvette from my local Chevy dealer this morning. I had the lady at the parts shop call up the publisher and confirm that this manual includes the Z06 and I was told that it did. Well, guess what? I din't find any Z06 specific stuff in there when I opened the packet in the evening. Did I get the wrong set? If so I will try and return it to the dealer.
I bought the one for 2001 3 volume set and it didnt have any specific references to the Z. It does however have a lot of good info. I havent been able to find one specifically for the Z.
HI there,
Please just remember, you must look for specific Z information, like specs for the LS6 engine, in Vol 2, or the body information, for the FRC.
Please understand, there will not be a section, just for ZO6.

Do any of our formum vendors sell these manuals at a discount? A dealer maybe? My friend is trying to get me one for free through his parts department but I doubt it will happen. I know these things aren't cheap.

I bought mine from Sam Smith at Fairway Chevrolet. $95 + shipping.

So does this mean that this is the best information that we can expect for the Z06. Its really disheartening. Other than a few references to the LS6 specs I still can't find Z06 specific information (body diffs, wheels/tires, interior, etc) unless ofcourse the Z06 related stuff is buried there somewhere. I think I will try and return this manual and see if something else is out there which tells more about the Z06. This stuff is definitly not worth the $125 I paid for. I don't want to refer to standard C5 stuff and then guess what could be different for my car. Almost all of the diagrams don't show Z06 stuff.
The manuals are for ALL Corvettes. I don't quite understand what you mean by Z06 specific.
If you want engine specs for the LS6 - they're in the book.
If you want wheel alignment specs for the Z06 - it's in there.
If you want gears ratios for the MM6 or the M12 - it's there.
If you want to jack up the car, remove the center console, adjust a loose seat, find a wiring diagram for the radio, change brake pads, etc., etc., etc.,...it doesn't matter whether you follow directions for a coupe, convertible or FRC. They're ALL THE SAME.
I don't think, what you refer to as "Z06 specific" is of any concern when it comes to owning and using the service manuals. Anything you will ever need is there.
If I'm way off base here, tell me specifically what you think should be there that isn't.
Good luck in your quest for more detailed and specific Z06 info.
You could be right about all the stuff being in there but in all my experience with car manuals from other makers, I have never seen one that it is so hard to decipher (specially when it comes to finding something specific to one of the models). For instance, I was trying to look up the front grill that is specific to the Z06 and just couldn't find it. Now it might all be in there, but why on earth should it be so hard to locate. I could get to everything else, including foglights, etc., but not what I was interested in. The same goes for the rear brake ducts.
Not being one to give up easily, this is what I'll do. Over the weekend I'll go over the 3 volumes and if I am still not satisfied I'll return them.
That's a few of the "Z06 specific" pages in Volume 3, two of which you couldn't find. You may be right about the fact that the manual is difficult to "decypher", but I think you'll find everything you could possibly ask for.
Obviously, it doesn't matter to me if you decide to return the books but, where else do you expect to find this kind of stuff?
I guess we can all be pains in the ass, right? I hope you didn't get the wrong idea. We were all just trying to help. I'm glad you decided to keep the books. I'm sure they'll pay off when you need them the most.
NYCHASM, I have the 3-volume set and happy with them. But maybe you can help me locate the relearn process after battery has been disconected, what page? Thanks
