SF Bay Area Tuners

I am in the process of adding a few modifications to my car and I am looking for someone in the SF Bay Area that can tune my car. Whether it's a shop of just someone that can come with me to a local dyno and tune the car for me. Either way will work. The only place I know of is Apex Motorsports, but they told me they have experience with LS1edit. Mods will be:

Vararam VR-1B
TPIS Long Tubes
Corsa Ti Race Exhaust
160 Degree Thermostat
LS1edit

Thanks in advance

Im moving to San Francisco next year, I also wanted to go with some longtubes and a cam but Im hesitant because of the emissions there. I already got a loudmouth cat back and I know its gonna be a bitch to get passed with that alone. Do you guys have hook ups or should I forget about the headers, and possibly a cam?

Miguel is right...welcome to big brother sniffing your butt!

For my '01 I did heads, shortie headers and a cam that is just a little hotter than the '02 and injectors. Nice tune and I got about 50rwhp.

But here in communist occupied CA you can't do the serious head / cam packages as in other states.

And to make matters worse - SMOG II is coming next year - even more stringent.

For the rest of you in other states...remember...what starts here spreads to other states.

A cam may be tough to slip by the sniffer test but you shouldn't have any problems with your cat back system. Headers will pass the sniffer but will fail the visual. I know of a place where I brought my last vette where they "overlooked" the headers.

Nice picture! Hey so should I wait until I get there and get a feel for the area before I go with longtubes and a cam? I know Ill be ok with the loudmouth from an emissions standpoint, its just really loud and Im afraid it wont pass a visual on that too.

How often do you have to go through these inspections? Is it an annual thing? In my opinion if it passes the sniffer it should be ok, to bad they have a visual inspection too.

You should wait because most likely you will need to get your car smogged before you can get the car registered in CA. Your current exhaust should have no problem passing the visual. The smog stations don't check noise levels here. Smog checks are once every two years, however a new car purchased in CA will not need a smog check for 4 years

Cool! Thanks for the info speeder, Ive asked similar questions to residents of the bay area in the past but never got a more clearer answer. Ill wait till I get there, If I find a shop that can pass me Ill just do longtubes and skip the cam.

Try Motor Sport Image in Roseville, California. They specialize in Corvettes. Their web address is www.motorsportimage.com.
