Shift light?

Do we have a shift light on the HUD? I see a shift indicator on the hud when starting up, but how do I set it? I have an '04, if that makes a difference.

Found this in my '01 owners manual

You can pick up the PDF version of the owners manual here:
https://www.mygmlink.com/main/US/en/gm/home

Shift Light (Performance SHIFT Light)
This light is used for performance driving to indicate
that the vehicle’s best performance level has been
reached to shift the transmission into the next higher
gear. The SHIFT light will display at an engine
speed of about 5,750 rpm, just prior to reaching the
engine fuel cut-off mode. To better understand the
vehicle’s power curves, see “Capacities and
Specifications” in the Index.

Don't know if it in the same section for your year, but try page 2-113.

It would be cool, but I don't think it is an option in HPTuners or LS1 Edit to be able to set this.

The HUD shift indicator will only work when you are in the rev limiter operating parameters (red zone RPM indication). Check out your owner's manual, it is mentioned in there. Not really designed for "perfomance shifting" but more as a safeguard.

I put a Raptor shiftlight in my Z06. Very discreet and it works great.

I saw the shift light on my Heads Up just yesterday for the first time. I banged the rev limiter too, imagine that. It's kinda too late if you see the shift light, isn't it? My reaction was.. oh, gee, that was the shift light.

BTW, is there a DIY for a shift light install? I bought one from a friend but I'm hesitant to install it, mostly because I don't know where to start. heh
