Sold Z06

Liked the Z06 but the refinement of BMW vs Chevrolet is like comparing Walmart and Ethan Allen for furniture. So I traded the Z06 for a new E46 M3. Not as fast but certainly more panache. The E46 is still no slouch. Will beat a C5 and a Z06 in top end with the rev limiter reprogrammed. Still miss the Z06 but the E46 meets my needs better.

Will probably join the fold again with a C6 or the new Z06 if BMW doesn't one up in the mean time. Will miss the community.

I see you edited your post, so I will edit mine.

I agree with you on the M3 vs Z06. The M3 is no slouch and the interior is MUCH nicer than the Z. The M3 would also make a better daily driver IMO.

Congrats on your new ride.

Good luck to you and you'll be back when you get tired of telling people you used to own a Z06, The American Legend.

Happy motoring to you and stay safe.

Wal Mart RULES!

When I shop for a car, my number one priority is panache.

The M3 is a nice car indeed. It's just slower for the $$ and that's one reason I didn't buy it.

Funny...every "race" or "roll on" I've encountered with the newer M3 ended about 140-150 or less...no where near top speed so what good would it have done them with the reprogrammed rev limiter? I would have had to slow down and wait to find this out plus I haven't even hit top speed of 172-175 since I owned the car anyway.

Guess I just never figured out why when people decide to change camps they have to come back and take cheap shots. You are probably the type that outran some M3 guys in your Z06 and talked crap to them too. Enjoy.

Oh yea forgot to mention 3 of these runs were when I was stock...the 2 since the Magnacharger...I admit weren't fair...it was sorta humbling for the M3 guy.

If money was the overriding issue why not purchase an older Corvette and mod the hell out it and pocket the thousands of dollars of difference and laugh all the way to the bank and at the Z06 that you just trounced!!!

The driving experience is not how fast you get there but how you get there fast.

LOL!

It's either panache or how many car lengths Lambo owners will claim they can pull on it.

I assume you're responding to my post...I never stated that money was the overriding issue. My Z06 is paid for so I could buy either. I like my Z06 that's why I still have it. You made the reference to speed...I just responded... that's all.

Damn this thread is hilarious. RScan'tsee has preached about the virtues or light weight in most of his posts, then he buys an M3?! I just spit my Weight Gain 5000 all over my monitor! Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't an E46 M3 weigh ~3450lbs and is only producing 333hp to haul around all that weight? Not very sportscar-like, is it?

Sorry you couldn't afford to buy a car for every purpose, RScan'tsee. Good luck with the Bimmer!

Funny I was in the opposite situation traded my 02 BMW E46 M3 for a Z06. The BMW was always in the shop plus aftermarket parts are very expensive. The M3 ride is not that much softer then the Z's. You'll miss the Z!
