so tonight i proceeded to have a little "fun" with a co worker on his Yamaha
R1. during some spirited driving i noticed my clutch felt odd. we went for about 15 miles shifting HARD between 4th 5th and 6th. i got off the freeway and my clutch pedal felt very weird....almost like it needed to be bled. it clutched and shifted fine, but the pedal just felt strange. by time i got home it was back to normal. is this just from increased tranny temps? or does it need to be bled? thanks
It's very comon for the stock clutch to do this after high RPM shifting. Basically, your clutch is failing to disengage properly and the pedal remains to the floor. After a few seconds, it will gradually return to normal.
A cheap and not always successful remedy is to bleed the clutch or at least swap out the fluid in the reservoir. Do this several times until the fluid remains clear.
If you do a search you'll find lots of info on this.

Your clutch fluid was hot and that's why you experienced that. When it cooled down, things went back to normal. This is normal for the stock clutch when driven hard.
Jub has good advice for you. I would bleed the clutch and replace it with higher temp fluid. It wouldn't hurt to keep the reservoir fluid clean like he also suggests above.
As the guys already said very normal. Just drive nice and easy after that happens and let it cool down it comes back to normal. Do a search here on the Ranger method of swapping out the fluid which is always good to do from time to time or after abuse. It's very simple and only takes 20 minutes. It's good insurance to swap the fluid.

20 minutes? Man I got this down to 5 minutes! I went all out and just bought a huge stainless syringe baster thing that you inject the turkey with to make it more flavorful...Academy sells em for $17.00 then dremel the tip off to where theres no more of those small holes on the side of the needle. It only takes like three pulls to get the old fluid out, spray it on the weeds and refill. Since its stainless it doesnt rust so I bag it for the future. It does help.

I hear ya!! In reality mabey 7 minutes, I pump it 20-30 times remove ,fill repeat sometimes 4-5 times and I'm clear like new. I think it takes me longer to put towels all over the fender and engine compartment!!!LOL
I want to bleed my clutch bad but even after so many tries i could not get it to get clear. So what is the proper procedure to do this
1 - Open the reservoir and use the syringe to pull the black fluid out
2 - pump the clutch and the reservior will fill up again?
3- if the reservoir fills up again then keep doing this till no fluid comes up and then put the new fluid in?
Alright I'll bite. As per your #2, you didn't put new fluid in before you closed it up and pumped? First I put towels everywhere fluid could drip. Next syringe out old fluid. Wipe out cup w/ lint free cloth. Put in NEW fluid to full line. Close cap. Pump 20-30 times. Open cap, syringe out dirty diluted fluid. PUT IN NEW FLUID AGAIN. Close cap. Pump 20-30 times AGAIN. And keep repeating till fluid comes up clear which is totally flushed for the most part. I hope you didn't suck in any air and need a bleed now because that won't be easy at all. Good luck or stop laughing because I bit!!!
If I get on the interstate and drive for a length of time the clutch will be harder to depress the first time I try when getting off the exit ramp. After one or two more pumps, the clutch feels like it should. Does this sound like a dirty fluid symptom also? Either way I will be changing fluid tomorrow night.
