TAKING FRONT WHEEL OF to have rim fixed.I take it its okay to put some blocks of wood under the frame to support car for a couple of days.Dont have pucks either so i will drive up on 2x8 and jack the car.First attempt at this, dont trust any wheel places with my car.Just bought a cheap 2ton jack and a torque rachet.Any other advice i would appreciate.
Thanks guys.
Buy some jack stands. You will use them later on to do other things, so while you're buying the jack and torque wrench you might as well go ahead and get them now.
If you don't want to put wood on the rockers ... have yourself a 24" - 26" 2x4 or 2x6 ... drive your car up on the 2x8's as you're planning, then jack from the front, with the aformentioned board on the front crossmember, lifted by the jack. Then put your blocks of wood under the A-arm to support that wheel. Ensure you chock the rear wheels. It won't go anywhere and will be fine while the wheel is off.
But you can go by a sports store and pick up a half dozen hocky pucks too ... they work fine as lifting pucks ...

Check other local guys and borrow a puck for jacking. Buy a jackstand. They're very cheap. Any mistakes you make that hork up a 'vette for lack of a jackstand will not be worth it. If it was an '85 Nova, you could use a chunk of cinderblock and a 2x, but do you really want to mess around with your 'vette? JMO... lol

Jack stands are cheap.Mine came with the jack.Or find a junk rim to bolt on and set it down on is even safer,if it's gonna be a while.
