Interesting, but by no means conclusive in my book.
To be a fair comparison, they should be running the tests in reverse on another engine used in the exact same fashion (i.e. Amsoil first followed by Mobil 1).
In addition, daily driving isn't of interest to me. My oil is abused to well over 250 degrees. I have read that even synthetic oil looses its effectiveness quickly over these temperatures. Their test doesn't take temperature variability into account.

I think they're all about equal performance. Amsoil, Mobil 1, Red Line are awesome. I've never really heard of anything about Royal Purple. I think they should be doing this in 4 different engines instead of just one, but that would cost a lot of money.

I found this site interesting as well, but I do question some of it. More than one engine would be good. Metro driving for those in metro areas, rural tests for those that don't live metro and maybe a mixer. A metro working rural living type of vehicle.
Still, I like the idea of someone testing these oils out. I'll guess they can all be driven beyond 5000 miles easily.

But, doesn't gas type have something to do with this? The detergent additives are different in some brands, correct?

Consumers reports did a test a few years back with 60 engines in NY city cabs they took oil from the major companys with 4 different weights. they measured and weighed the bearings etc. they changed the oil at 4 different intervals up tp 12,000 miles. The cars ran 24/7 at 60,000 they took the engines apart weighed and measured everything again they found not any noticeable difference between oils or grades even between dino oils and synthetic oil. Granted no cold starts biggest flaw but the cabs are the torture camber for many auto product products.
