Transportation Company

Hey guys,
I need to ship a Z06 from Red Bluff CA to San Antonio TX. Do you guys know or have you worked with a good transportation company. I dont have much money but want a decent company that will keep the car protected.

Let me know if you can help.

My opinion...fly there and get it and drive it back the same day otherwise you will be waiting for quite a while in most cases and cost wise its almost dumb. I saved $400 just doing it myself and the drive from Atlanta to Ft. Worth was awesome.

Re: Transportation Company

When I retired and moved from Maryland to Florida, I used Thomas C. Sunday Auto Transport. I selected them because, Tom Sunday was recommended to me by another Corvette owner. Tom is also a Corvette enthusiast and a member of the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club. He was not the cheapest, but I got great service deliverying my '69 BB vert and my '04 Z06 CE to Ft. Myers. The driver arrived on time and I had no issues. Would definitely use them again if I needed there service. Here is a link to their website.

Good luck!

Re: Transportation Company

This info is a couple years old: perhaps someone with recent experience will chime in.
Auto Transport contact info:

These are the top four, based on Z06 Forum members’ experiences as of early 2006:

InterCity Lines, Inc. Phone: 1-800-221-3936

Exotic Car Transport: 407 654-9949

Passport transport 800-325-4267

Horseless carriage 800-631-7796

Here is a posting on one of the discussion threads from a shipping consultant:

I work for an auto transport company, Dependable Auto Shippers. We have open carriers, as well as enclosed. The enclosed units are the same design as BMW carriers, except for the graphics. No matter what company you choose, ship the vette on an enclosed car carrier. The enclosed units utilize a fabric hold down strap that wraps around the tire. Open carriers use chains to secure the vehicle, and if you notice vehicles on an open carrier, there is no suspension travel because they crank the chains down as much as possible to get maximum overhead clearance. Some carriers even wrap these chains around suspension components. In this case the likely hood of damage is high.
Transport on an enclosed unit is more expensive than an open carrier. Typically open carriers can haul up to 12 vehicles, compared to an open carrier up to 8 vehicles. The cost per vehicle is higher on an enclosed unit.
The carriers mentioned in this thread, Intercity lines & Horseless Carriage are also very good companies.

Here are some links to discussion threads on shipping.

Re: Transportation Company

I've used Passport Transport (division of Fedex) with satisfactory results.

Re: Transportation Company

I have used DAS with good results. I also recently used Moore transport of Tulsa to send my car from El Paso to Atlanta.
Both times the car was well taken care of and showed up without a scratch. DAS used a large hauler that held many cars. Moore used a much smaller trailer and there was only one other vehicle on board (very nice chevelle).
I would strongly recommend shipping enclosed trailer. I made the mistake of shipping a Camaro open trailer. It was only a couple of hours away so I didn't think it would matter. It picked up bugs along the way, and six months later when I picked it up it hadn't been washed. There was paint missing where each bug had been.
