Well on the way hoem from work yesterday I was rounding a corner and the car went full throttle by itself !
At first I thought the car was sliding on grain dust (Grain Silo nearby) then I realized very quickly that I was at full throttle. The ass-end kicked out I corrected and slammed the brakes, pulled the E-brake (useless) and slid to a stop against a steel post.
Overall the damage is not too bad. Right front turnsignal now resides with the brake cooling duct, and creased the front fascia just below the headlight door.
I filed a complaint with the NHTSA this morning.
The cop was looking at the accident and after we got aquainted and he realized I wasn't drunk or a crack head started joking a bit. He said you ain't fooling me ! I told him if I did that on purpose you think I would have called you ?
Anyway, the car was flatbedded to my local dealer and awaiting estimates.
Another thing you could of or should have done it turn the ignition (Key) off.
I can't recall if the engine shut itself off or I did. It was Darned quick ! Of course if ya turn the key too far you have steering wheel lock, which ain't so good either.

Won't that lock the steering wheel? *edit: already answered above*
Depending on the situation, pushing in the clutch petal may also save you from the big crunch. Of course, there is the possibility that you may also blow your engine. But I'd rather be faced with replacing the engine than causing bodily harm to other motorists and myself.
I'm sure you only had milliseconds to react.

wow that is kinda scary...well not kinda...IT IS SCARY!!!...glad ur ok. i wander if it has to do with this new drive by wire crap, which i know has been on these cars for awhile now, but still.......
I do remember a post here a while back where someone had a TC/AH problem kick in while driving and locked up one wheel and almost wiped out. It was a C6Z.
Yes, I have heard of this before. I don't recall if it was on this forum or a different one. But do a search for torque management or traction control. As I recall the guy was just slowing down to turn and as he started the turn the the car went into full throttle. I made a copy of his information, its been a couple of years I will see if I stll have it.

Very interesting and scary. First I've heard of this. BTW, for those of us who have had the column lock recal done "correctly", the column cannot lock. Nice to keep in the back of our minds if this becomes an issue. Thanks for sharing.
