Vandalized!! Is the '01 Rear Glass a unique part #?

Well - I was alerted to a noise outside last night and wasn't sure if it was a gunshot or a backfire or just my imagination.

In the light of the day I say it was the rear window and drivers window being smashed to bits.

So other than the anger and hatred towards the lowlife mother f*******@@@!@$#@#%$@$#@rs who did this, I need to be sure if I should insist on a 2001 specific rear window.

Paul

Paul, sorry to hear this bro.
It's a damn shame that some folks just have no respect for other peoples property.

Probably just some asswipe kids who had nothing better to do than to vandalize a car.

Don't know the answer to your question, but I would think the '01 back windshield would be different than any other FRC.

Mike

Man...that is plain and simple crap. I'd expect stuff like this here in the NE, but not in Texas. I guess assholes abound everywhere.

The glass is all the same... it's about a $1300 piece of glass because of the curve and the low market demand.

Definately call your insurance and file a comp claim. Vandalism goes under comprehensive and it doesn't affect your rates at all, it's a non-chargable offence. You simply pay your deductible.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Just chatted with the neighbours, seems a block down there is at least one other car also with rear window busted...

And nothing stolen as with mine - just vandals apparently.

How can you be so bored as to just go break peoples stuff?

I only ask about the rear window as I know our front windows were unique.

I guess sooner or later I needed to end the 10 year no claim record with the car insurance.

Don

Man I'm sorry to hear about stuff like this.. I'm with Don, I guess a$$holeitis isn't just limited to regions.

I had thought that both windshields were special to the Z06 but I'm not 100% certain on that. I have a glass shop right around the corner from the office, at lunch I can walk over and check if you like. Maybe just for my own info.......

If people like that disappeared off the face of the earth, the world would be a much better place.

Sorry this happened. I've been there, done that.

Rear glass replacement
Yeah my rear glass was around the $2800 mark a couple years ago. Glad Chevy bought it and not me. I had the rear defrost clip problem where the solder breaks off by itself.

So is this something a mobile glass service could take care of?

Or do I have to make the trip on a lowbed to the dealer?

Mobile should be able to do it as long as they have access to the correct glass.

Thanks Norm.

BTW there is glass everywhere... I mean everywhere.... in every nook and cranny and crevice.

I am guessing a shopvac is the best tool to pcik it all up.

Should I begin cleanup before the glass service/adjuster gets here? Or leave it all for them to see. The police have already been around and filed their Crim. Misch. report.

p.s. I so hope they catch these punks and let us meter out some neighbourhood justice
