I know a lot of folks are looking to make a swap for a regular C5 tranny when they have a lot of power and want to use it more effectively.
If anyone is interested in making a swap, I have a transmission from a 2000 Coupe that is in EXCELLENT condition as c4c5specialist can tell you since he personally worked on it in January. Runs great and I use synthetic in it.
Anyway, I'd pay for all the labor involved to make the swap for a transmission out of any '01 through '03 Z06 in good condition.

You must be kidding. Why would any Z06 owner make this swap?

Thanks for your helpful and worthwhile reply
If it were me with the big horsepower, I'd be contacting junkyards nation wide. As we've seen here, there are a lot of Z06s that don't always make it back to the garage at night. It just isn't logical that a Z06 owner would want to trade down for anything other than an automatic and that only in very special health related circumstances.
JC, No he means the M6.............
The gear ratios in the M6, are better suited for the strip, and 4.10,and higher numerically gears, than the M12's...at least I have also heard this....
Besides...an M12, doesn't have any bragging rights as a superior tranny mechanically, or strength wise over the M6.......just a percieved reputation..and different ratio gearing..........
Now the 3.42 rears, are identical to the regular 3.42 getrags, except for the pinion & ring gear..they have been shot peened for greater durability/longevity.........

So why do all the Z06 ads talk about transmission gearing for faster acceleration? False and misleading ads??

what ad's??.
I haven't seen any
Keep in mind we are talking about street/strip cars here not AutoX........
From the 2002 Corvette brochure, page 25: "High-performance six-speed transmission. In keeping with the sporting nature of the Z06, an automatic transmission is not available. The six-speed manual transmission features gear ratios that enhance acceleration."
I believe your gear ratio shart strengthens the case for not swapping an M6 for an M12 if you already have the M12.

Yes, but if you have a lot more hp than the stock Z06, you would want to switch over to the M6 as it is more suitable for drag strip racing.
And on a side note, most of the really high performance Vettes go with an automatic transmission. The fastest street legal Vette in the country is the 99 FRC out of Texas with the 427 twin turbo built on a C5R block. Its running in the high 8's and they had to replace the 6 speed with an automatic to handle the power.
