Warranty????

I am just getting rid of my Hi-Po Ford because of how discraceful Ford is about honoring their warranty vs modifications. They will void it over something as simple as a chip or airfilter. I think its crap that Ford won't back their product WHICH IS WHY I own a Chevy now. I know Chevy builds a stronger engine and they back it up when it fails. Question is, for those of you with warranties and a few mods, how has Chevy been about covering your claims with mods installed? Are they like Ford and just looking for a reason not to pay your claim, or do they back their product???

Lightningz06,

Welcome aboard, this one all depends on the dealer. Some folks have even had their dealers install mods for them........

I have had great luck with Chevy. I have been to two dealers with nitrous on my ls1 Camaro SS and they didn't have a problem with it. They just told me to remove the system and they would repair the damage. And they don't care at all if the car has any form of intake, exhaust modifications. Chevy rocks.

I would pull any mod on any car..if I felt it was in any way possible that the mod would be blamed (even if not actually related)

Proactive thinking avoids big headaches..no matter what you are dealing with in life..JMO.

All the manufacturers play the same.

I LOVE MY CHEVY DEALER!!!

Gentlemen, it pays to cultivate a good relationship with your local Mr Goodwrench.....Corvette Clubs are a great local resource for finding out who you might be able to trust and who to stay away from.....

This is how I found the Good Guys at the local Chevy dealer.

Of course, they are not stupid.....but, if it comes to a "MUG WUMP" decision on a warrenty item they'll probabily be on your side. I'm a big boy and can handle anything not covered by my warrenty.....It's kinda like "if you don't have the time don't do the crime" if you catch my drift.....

My Z is in today for a window rattle fix and a shifter lite install, a Vinci Fan Switch install and a Lap Trak install.....They did my headers and Katech Rod Bolts last year.....

Next week it will be gone for about 3 weeks as they are installing a new Star Spec Clutch and Aluminum Flywheel(same clutch/flywheel LPE uses on the 725 HP beast), and Vinci heads, lifters, push rods, roller rockers, guides, springs, ti retainers, ss valves, etc. the heads will be overnighted to Vinci. Also, using Vinci's Stage 5 Cam. Finally, an ATI underdrive Dampner, a Katech ported Throttle Body, and a Katech solid Tensioner. The engine will be dropped out of the body to facilitate this job.

Hoping for 420-425 rwhp.....

All of these parts are better than stock quality.....

Oh, almost forgot The Vinci Clutch Shield

My 3 cents

As ImaZ06 said, it depends on the dealer and some will do mods for you. The vette mech at the local dealer installed my sideWinder. He and I also talked about removing the pre-cats and installing headers. He said no problem for warranty. As 01Zee06 said, cultivate a good relationship with your service tech. He is usually the guy that get things done for you.
