Just got back this afternoon from two days at WGI. What a track, it was my first time on a track and the Zperformed incredibly.
Here a re a couple of pics...
Coming through the middle S turn at the crest of the uphill climb to the back straight:
Coming through the "Bus Stop" chicayne:
Another one at the "Bus Stop":
This car was unbelievable, there were 911's, 944's Ferraris, Vipers, and Mustangs there. Was able to overtake all of them in the beginners group with the Z. Got the Z up to 142 mph in the front and back straights on the last day.
What a thrill, if you have ever thought about taking the car out on a road course, DO IT, what a hoot. I figure the adrenaline rush will end sometime next week.
The Tracquest events are well done, well organized, and then instructors are very good. I would highly recommend one of these events if they come to your area. (http://www.tracquest.com)
It was even more fun than the pictures show. To be able to go out on such a great track as the Glen, start slowly, learn the techniques, gain confidence, and really be able to open the Z up for 30 minutes at a time is more fun than I can describe.
Also being able to fly by the 911, 944, Viper, Mustang, Boxster, and Ferrari was just too cool for words.
In one of the later sessions when I had my legs and was really starting to let the Z run, we had passed a Boxster and came onto the main straight. The instructor noticed a Viper about 3/4 down the straight and said "IK, theres the next one, let's show him thet 450 HP isn't all that a sports car needs". About 1.5 laps later I had reeled in the Viper and took him on one of the back straights. What a feeling...
Mark, are you looking at the Mid Ohio event that Tracquest is doing in August (13th & 14th). Was thinking of trying to do that one but not sure if I can take the time...
Whatever you do, find one of these events and go, I can't express how much fun I had over the last two days...
Hey Frank, its amazing how hard you work the brakes in one of these two day events, between the brake dust and all the crap from the track (since it rained both days we were there) my chromies are starting to look like a set of 01 originals.
Are my wheels supposed to be that dark, oh well doesn't matter, I know you will make them sparkle come September...
Great pics of you and the track. You will have to come out with DanA and myself the next time we go to LimeRock Conn. Its not as big a track but its just as much fun. It has nice tight turns and you should, with the Z get up to 120+ on the straight and then its down to 40 to make the hair-pin at the end of it.
Glad you had fun, sure makes you knees wobbly after a session or to. I'm sure Dan will chime in soon......
Hey Mark. Great pictures and sounds like you had the "most fun you could have with your clothes on! ! Wish the timing had been better for me. Really wished I could have taken the time to go. I will get to one of these events, for sure. Hope to see you soon. Baron

David, the tires held out fine, in fact I am very impressed with the wet handling of the F1 SC tires. the track was quite wet on day one, and although I was not anywhere near what my top speed eventually was, I was still going pretty good, and the F1 SCs gave me great wet traction. The brakes held out fine under some heavy braking conditions, going to have them checked when I drop the car at the dealer tomorrow for service.
Paul, really want to go down to Lime Rock, understand it is not as long as WGI, but that it is a lot of fun. you are right about the wobbly knees, I have never been more tired than at the end of these two days, both days I went back to my room, showered, sat in a chair to watch some TV before dinner and both times I fell asleep in the chair, it is very draining, and physically exhausting.
Baron, definitely need to do one of these, maybe we can get a group to go down to Lime Rock for an event, let's keep our eyes open for one, or maybe an event up at NHIS in Louden.
Hey, Mark - cool pics! We had our driving school day at BIR last Thursday. I knew I would learn a lot about handling the Z on a road course, but I had so much fun I couldn't believe it. BIR is a 3-mile track with a 1/2 mile straight away and then 10 turns. Got up to 140 on the straight and lots of practice shifting and braking. I am so impressed with that car. You can feel everything it does and it responds right now! I love my car more than ever. I know what you mean about tiring you out. I had to drive home another 130 miles after the track closed. There were a lot of Zs there including Rippied.Z06 and a couple other forum guys. Rats, forgot to take a banner pic. We go back up there next week-end for racing so we'll get some then. The track is so much fun and then you can really "Drive it like you stole it".

Hey guys, I'd be up for that too! I'm tired of just watching the cars go around that track. I have to do something to get the adrenaline out. It just builds every day I drive this car!
