After watching a SCCA race at Road Atlanta and seeing several Z06's killing everything on the track I was sold. I went to my local Chevy dealership and hunted for my first Corvette. I had to sell my 99' Pontiac TransAm WS6. My WS6 was modded a with suspension and several bolt-ons but the stock Z was a much faster car right out of the box.

Performin Norman was cool enough to take me for a ride tonight in his ZO6. Then he stops and hands ME the keys. Pure adrenaline rush!!! This car is absolutely awesome. I HAVE to have one of these by mid summer! Thanks Norm!
always wanted a vette but i took a ride in a friends z06 and i was sold then i wanted a color i liked my friend 's was an03 but i wanted a white so i went with a 2001 sw white!
There are a few things! The raw power! The great handling! The looks! And it's a VETTE!
Dollar for dollar it's the best buy!
Think about this the car is 50K (round numbers) and will run with just about ANY car for Any amount of money. It's so close that if you are a very good driver and the guy in the other car is just an ok driver, you will take him!
The last part, I think is a bonus! You become part of muscle car history. Almost everyday, when you drive you see OTHER vette owners (it doesn't matter what year. It could be a 1963 or a 2003.) They will give you a wave, thumbs-up, or just a nod.
Those are just some reasons to buy a Z06, or any Vette!!!!!
It's a looking car and has POWER ! POWER ! HANDLING ! HANDLING ! Low COST per horsepower. It'll smoke pretty near all the other exotics and other supercars out there. 400hp vs 500 and can still kick ass !
I bought mine sight unseen, but after seeing the pictures in the magazines, reading all the reviews then analyzing the specs on all others I purchased this one.
Everytime I get behind the wheel a smile comes over my face and doesn't disapear until I come back to Bosnia !
For me, it all started when Chevy first unveiled the C5. I really liked the lines, and thought it was a very nice car. My love for it was confirmed when I saw it for the first time in person, a guy pulled over at a gas station.
I knew at that time I had to get myself one of those. That was in '96, I was 21, and I was paid 30k.
A few years passed, and along came the Z06, the increases in salary (!), and an understanding wife
In 2001 I autox'd for the first time in a 87, could my butt whipped by 2 ZO6's. That got me thinking about the Z. Found a used 01 in January at a local dealer, wasn't seriosly looking just walked be and there it was. It was awesome looking. That was on Sunday, went back on Monday to test drive but it was raining very hard so I didn't go. Finally drove it on Tuesday, but couldn't pull th etrigger for a few days. I've never spent that much money on a car. The final decision maker was my son saying that if I don't buy a Z I'll never be happy with anything else. He's not an American car fan but does love to drive the Z. We autox together, he drives a VW GTI, and occassionally he drives the Z. Since I bought the Z the economy has sucked so I guess it was good I bought when I did or it would not have happened.
Have to love the power.
My last Corvette had been a 79 L82 and I was so unhappy with it (sold it 6 mos later) I had pretty much decided that Corvette had abandoned its performance objectives. In 90 I actually bought a Nissan 300ZXTT (my 1st and only foreign car purchase) instead of a new Corvette.
It took the announcement of and reading the advance reviews about the 2001 Z06 to show me that Corvette had finally returned to its performance roots.
I bought one of the first 2001 Z06's - took delivery in Oct of 2000 - and am still convinced that they finally got it right! That's not to say that I wasn't disappointed by GM's failure to quickly address the oil consumption issue or their decision to immediately depreciate the 01 Z06 by raising the hp the very next year. But I figure that GM rushed the 01 Z06 to market in reaction to some perceived competitor and needed an additional year to release the Z06 they had originally intended to market.

I have always liked older Corvettes. I haven't been crazy about the C5 (I still don't like the way the coupe looks). lasmith2112 was looking for a ZO6 and found one in Atlanta at a dealership. Since he lives 6 hours away, he asked me to go take a look at it. My wife and I went to the big city and took it for a spin. I had driven a '98 convertible and was impressed. However, after driving the Z I was blown away. I could not believe the acceleration in that car. I told lasmith2112 if he didn't buy that car I would. He bought the car, so I started looking around for myself. I found one on ebay at an incredible price (that's a story for another thread) and bought it.

I already had a C5, but I hung out on this forum a little too long and that did. I had to have one, found a MY 170 miles away
and got off work one Friday morning and took off to get it with no sleep. Man that was a long day, but it was well worth it.
